Aniimo Gear and Equipment Guide: Held Items, Gems and Runes

Aniimo's equipment layer is Held Items with socketed gems and Runes. Here is what unlocks when, where the gear comes from, and what to prioritize.

Aniimo’s gear layer is small on the surface — one item per creature — but it stacks with aptitude and Resonance into the biggest late-game stat jump you can make. Here is how it actually works, and what is confirmed versus what still needs checking.

Held Items: one slot, one item

Each Aniimo equips a single Held Item, and the system unlocks at the Student III title. The slot is the constraint that matters: you cannot stack items, so every creature’s one item should match its job.

Two broad categories:

  • Field items — work during exploration and Homeland activities: movement speed, resource drop rate boosts, that kind of utility.
  • Battle items — trigger automatically or manually in combat: healing, attack boosts, status cleansing.

Where gear comes from

  • Bosses and chests are the documented sources. The standout: Alpha Grizbo drops the Heartseeker Pendant, Avenging Gear and Heritage Amulet on repeat runs, which makes that fight a genuine gear farm — see Alpha Grizbo.
  • Title promotions hand out gear as section rewards — backpacks, attack amplifiers and protective units show up across the Wayfarer assessments.
  • The Holo-Battle Sim is reported by community sources as a gear-farming route; treat the exact drop tables as not fully documented — check in-game.

Gems: the substat layer

Held Items take socketed gems, and this is where the artifact-game depth hides. Gem grades contribute points (reported as 1 point for green, 2 for blue, 3 for purple), and reaching point thresholds unlocks the item’s bonus substat effects. Practical consequence: a purple gem in the right item is worth more than three green ones, and the effect you unlock depends on which item you are building.

Runes: the upgrade layer

Held Item Runes unlock at Wayfarer II, and upgrading items spends Cores — Basic Held Item Cores drop from promotion quests and related content. The rule from every progression system in this game applies here too: cores are scarce late, so finish your main carry’s item before starting a second one.

Priorities

  1. Main DPS first. Its one item and its runes get every core you can spare.
  2. Breaker second. Faster guard drain shortens every fight in the game.
  3. Heal and Support last — their items matter, but the carry’s item decides your damage ceiling.
  4. Match item to role. A field item on your fighter is a wasted slot, and vice versa.

What connects

Gear sits on top of the rest of the stack: aptitude sets the ceiling, Capability Awakening and Resonance fill it, and the Held Item bonus sits above all of it — see the Aptitude and Talent guide and the Best Team Comps guide. Full item and gem tables are not fully documented in community sources — check in-game before planning around specific effects or drop rates.
