Lost Ark Shadowhunter T4 Build — Demonic Impulse vs Perfect Suppression

Shadowhunter is the demon-transformation Assassin. Her identity is a choice: unleash the demon and become a clawing monster, or suppress it and fight in human form with enhanced skills. Both are real endgame routes in Tier 4, and they share the same Shadowburst meter — they just spend it completely differently.

Role in the party

Melee DPS with strong multi-hit damage, a counter, and good mobility. Demonic Impulse brings its own lifesteal-style sustain; Perfect Suppression brings a different flavor of consistency. Either way you are a damage dealer, not a utility piece.

The two T4 routes

• Demonic Impulse — the transformation route, and the more popular one. Build Shadowburst with Encroachment skills, demonize, and tear into the boss with demon skills. The route keeps you in demon form longer, boosts demon skill crit rate, and has a simplified loop: transform, hit things, repeat.
• Perfect Suppression — demonize disabled. Instead, builder (Intrude) skills fill the meter and spender skills consume a slice of it for bonus damage, with Storm Grinding as a dedicated X-key nuke that refunds meter on use. Higher APM and more complex, but no transformation downtime at all.

Ark Passive direction

• Evolution: Specialization and Crit for Demonic Impulse (the demon form has high innate crit), Swiftness and Crit for Perfect Suppression.
• Enlightenment: Demonic Impulse and Perfect Suppression are mutually exclusive keystones — never split. Demonic Impulse follows Instinct Enhancement, Chaos Training, and Chaos Enhancement; Perfect Suppression follows Shadowburst Control, Weapon Training, and Storm Grinding.
• Leap: nodes for your main spenders or demon skills, depending on route.

Engravings, gems, and gear

Demonic Impulse commonly runs Grudge, Keen Blunt Weapon, Hit Master, Cursed Doll — its non-positional demon skills make Hit Master free damage. Perfect Suppression runs Grudge, Ambush Master, Adrenaline, Cursed Doll as a Swiftness back-attack build. Gems follow the route’s biggest buttons. See gear honing T4 and engravings.

Core loop

Demonic Impulse: fill meter, transform on cooldown, keep attacking to hold the meter, exit when it drains. Perfect Suppression: alternate builders and spenders, keep Storm Grinding’s meter refund chain going, and maintain the Encroachment Release window.

New player friendliness

Medium. Demonic Impulse is approachable — the transformation is forgiving and self-sustaining. Perfect Suppression is a real step up in complexity. Both are squishy by Assassin standards, so pattern knowledge matters.

How this differs from our other Assassin guides

Unlike Reaper (stealth windows) or Deathblade (Surge stacks), Shadowhunter’s identity is a full alternate skill kit. If you’ve ever wanted to play the monster instead of the person holding it back, this is your class.
