THE FINALS Infiltrator guide: how to combine True Sight, Mimic Device and Translocator into an information-focused Light build in Season 12.

THE FINALS Light Infiltrator Deep Dive (Season 12)

The Infiltrator guide on this site covers the basics of Season 12’s new Light playstyle. This is the deep dive — how to actually combine its three tools into a coherent style instead of mashing buttons. The Infiltrator isn’t a fragging class in the traditional sense. It’s an information class that frags as a side effect.

Your three tools and what they’re really for

True Sight — your Specialization. It reveals enemies through smoke and other non-solid obstructions, but solid walls still block it. In practice: you see the smoke grenade’s contents, the goo trap’s victim, the cloaked enemy who thought smoke was enough. It’s an information tool, not a wall hack, and the best Infiltrators use it to decide, not to shoot.

Mimic Device — scan an object and become it. You take on the object’s properties: opponents can throw you, destroy you, or walk past you entirely. This is the game’s best ambush setup and its best escape. Become the crate nobody checks, watch the Cashout push walk by, then un-mimic behind them.

Translocator — mark an object and swap positions with it, keeping its momentum. This is your get-out-of-jail card and your flanking engine. Swap into the explosive barrel above the enemy’s hold. Swap out when the push finds you. The momentum carry means physics does half the work.

The information playstyle

  • Scan before you engage. True Sight tells you how many, where, and what they’re doing. Thirty seconds of intel is worth more than any gadget.
  • Be the team’s eyes. In squads, call what you see — the Infiltrator’s value scales directly with communication.
  • Fight from ambiguity. Your edge isn’t aim; it’s that the enemy doesn’t know where you are, how many of you there are, or which prop is you.

Build ideas

  • The assassin: Cloaking Device with a mid-range Light like the 93R or ARN-220. Cloak, reposition, burst, vanish. True Sight confirms the kill is safe before you take it.
  • The lurker: Mimic-heavy play with a Dagger. Sit as a prop on the objective, wait for a back, delete.
  • The disruption build: Translocator plus grenades. You’re not the killer; you’re the reason the enemy’s position stops working.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Using True Sight as a crutch. Seeing someone doesn’t mean shooting them — sometimes the information play is to leave.
  • Mimicking in the open. A crate that moves is a dead crate. Mimic where props are plausible.
  • Overusing Translocator. If your escape is on cooldown when the push lands, you’re just a Light with bad positioning.

Who this is for

Patient players who enjoy winning fights before they start. If your favorite THE FINALS moment is an enemy team pushing your “empty” objective while you’re the barrel above them, welcome home. For counterplay, the Infiltrator counters guide covers how the other side deals with you.
