THE FINALS Bernal Map Guide (Season 12)
Bernal is a Mexican town tucked under the shadow of the Peña de Bernal, one of the biggest monoliths in the world. It’s also one of the most demolition-friendly maps in the game. If you like winning fights by removing the wall between you and the enemy, this is your arena.
The layout
- Narrow cobblestone streets: The default fight zone. Tight, cluttered, and brutally close-quarters. Long-range guns feel bad here; SMGs, shotguns and anything with good hip-fire feel right.
- Rooftops: Bernal wants you up top. The buildings sit close enough that rooftop-to-rooftop movement is fast, and the monolith looming overhead gives you easy visual reference when you’re disoriented.
- The monolith itself: Your landmark. When you’re lost, look for the rock — orient off it and you’ll never be truly turned around.
- The Chapel area: A distinct landmark with its own geometry; Season 12 fixed a zipline here that used to float when the structure collapsed, so plan routes around it with more confidence now.
The whole town is carvable. Interior walls, facades, fences — treat them as optional. The shortest path between two points in Bernal is usually a wall you haven’t blown up yet.
Cashout play
Vaults spawn across the town, and stations rotate with them. Two habits keep you rich:
- Carry high. Bernal’s rooftops let you skip 80% of the street-level ambush spots. Drop to the street only when the station forces you to.
- Make your own door. If defenders are holding a building from the inside, don’t debate the front entrance. Breach Charge, C4 or Dematerializer through a wall and the fight is over before it starts.
Rotations through the side alleys are quick but exposed. If you must cross open ground, use smoke — with Season 12’s reworked gas and smoke behavior, clouds now hug geometry instead of bleeding through walls, so a well-placed smoke actually protects the route you’re standing on.
Vertical game
Beyond the connected rooftops, Bernal’s Suspended Sponsor Structures variant adds hanging geometry you can fight on and drop from. Watch these carefully during Season 12 matches — the new gradual destruction means damaged suspended structures can swing or sag before they collapse, which creates temporary platforms and temporary traps in equal measure. Never assume the platform you landed on thirty seconds ago is still there.
Build fit
- Light: Bernal’s streets are short enough that a Light with an SMG or shotgun wins most duels. Grappling Hook turns any roof into an escape route.
- Medium: Jump Pad is the move — it gets your team onto the roofs and keeps your rotation options open. AKM or FCAR handle the street fights.
- Heavy: Slower on the tight streets, but a Heavy anchoring a station with Goo, Barricades or a turret is a nightmare to dislodge. Winch Claw also shines: pulling defenders off rooftops into the street below is peak Bernal.
Map pairings
Bernal plays slower and dirtier than Monaco despite similar vibes — more cover, more vertical shortcuts. If you enjoy it, Kyoto scratches the same rooftop itch with a very different skin.
