THE FINALS CL-40 Guide (Season 12)

The CL-40 is the Medium’s grenade launcher, and it is not a dueling weapon — it’s a demolition tool that occasionally deletes people. If your idea of a good time is removing the floor an enemy team is standing on, this is the most fun gun in THE FINALS. Just know what you’re signing up for.

What it is

A Medium-build grenade launcher. Rounds travel, they bounce, and they explode. That means you can hit targets around corners, through windows, and behind the cover that would stop every rifle in the game. It also means your own explosions are a very real threat to you.

Engagement range

• Sweet spot: anything with a sightline and no roof. Arcs are your friend; walls are your enemy.
• Use it on structures first. The CL-40’s best target is usually the building, not the player. Delete the floor and let gravity finish the job.
• Direct hits work on careless players at mid range, but that’s the bonus, not the plan.

Attachment ideas

• The CL-40 doesn’t have a deep attachment identity — focus on whatever improves handling and reload, because your tempo between shots is your lifeline.
• Learn the arc through play, not stat screens; the trajectory is the whole weapon.
• Skip anything that implies you should be trading shots. You shouldn’t.

Pros and cons

Why players keep coming back:

• Best destruction-per-second in the Medium kit — and Cashout scoring loves destruction
• Reaches targets no other Medium weapon can touch
• Deletes entrenched positions that would otherwise need a whole-team push

Where it hurts:

• Hopeless in straight 1v1s against rifles
• Self-damage is real; tight spaces are dangerous
• Slower pace — you’ll feel it in ranked when the round needs frags, not craters

Who should run it

Players who think in three dimensions. If you look at a building and see the load-bearing wall before you see the enemy, the CL-40 is your gun. It pairs beautifully with the Medium’s support gadgets — goo, smoke, and let your squad clean up whatever you collapse.
