THE FINALS M60 Guide (Season 12)
THE FINALS M60 guide: the Heavy LMG's role, engagement range, attachment ideas, pros and cons, and how to suppress without becoming a target.
THE FINALS M60 Guide (Season 12)
The M60 is the classic Heavy belt-fed — the gun you picture when someone says “big guy, big machine gun.” It’s a suppression tool first and a killing machine second, and the players who love it understand the difference. Your job isn’t to out-duel the enemy’s rifle; it’s to make the enemy’s position untenable while your team does the actual work.
What it is
A Heavy-build light machine gun with a large belt. Sustained fire, big magazine, real recoil, zero mobility while you’re holding the trigger. It’s the anchor gun: plant yourself, hold the lane, make crossing it expensive.
Engagement range
- Sweet spot: 20 to 40 meters. Long enough to contest mid-range, short enough that your rounds still do work.
- Burst it. Holding the trigger for a full belt turns your crosshair into a weather balloon. Controlled bursts keep you accurate and save ammo.
- Close quarters is survivable but not your strength — a Light who gets the drop on you wins.
Attachment ideas
- Recoil control is the priority. The M60 climbs hard, and taming the climb is the difference between suppression and a light show.
- Optic choice depends on your maps; a clean 2x-ish setup suits its natural range.
- Reload speed matters more than magazine size — your belt is already huge, your downtime is the problem.
Pros and cons
Why it’s a Heavy staple:
- Area denial — nobody pushes an M60 calmly
- Huge sustained damage output when you control the bursts
- Excellent for holding Cashouts and objective rooms
Where it hurts:
- You’re rooted while firing; flanking is not your job
- Ammo discipline is real — spray and you’ll reload at the worst moment
- Loses to snipers if you’re caught in the open
Who should run it
Anchor players. If your favorite moment in THE FINALS is three enemies dying on the choke you’re holding, the M60 is your gun. It pairs with Mesh Shield or Dome Shield for the classic hold-the-window play, and it loves a Medium with Healing Beam standing behind you.
The Heavy build guide covers the full anchor kit, and the gadget synergy guide explains how to layer your denial tools.
