THE FINALS SA1216 Guide (Season 12)

THE FINALS SA1216 guide: the Heavy semi-auto shotgun's range, attachment ideas, pros and cons, and the best Winch and Mesh builds for it.

THE FINALS SA1216 Guide (Season 12)

The SA1216 is the Heavy’s semi-auto shotgun — the gun for players who want shotgun damage without the commitment of the KS-23’s slug-or-die dance. It’s a magazine-fed automatic spread: you swing in, you fire, and if the first round doesn’t finish the job, the next one is already cycling.

What it is

A Heavy-build semi-automatic shotgun with a real magazine. Unlike the KS-23’s single-slug precision play, the SA1216 is a volume weapon — multiple fast rounds that shred anything that lets you get close. It’s the shotgun for players who like follow-up shots.

Engagement range

  • Sweet spot: inside 20 meters, ideally inside 10. This is a room-clearing gun.
  • The falloff is real — past 25 meters you’re tickling. Don’t take those fights; close the gap instead.
  • It’s forgiving in a way the KS-23 isn’t. Miss half your spread and the rest still lands. That’s the whole appeal.

Attachment ideas

  • Reload speed and handling. The SA1216’s weakness is downtime between engagements, so minimize it.
  • Hip-fire improvements matter more than optics — this gun gets used from the hip.
  • Skip range tricks; you’re not turning this into a marksman rifle.

Pros and cons

Why aggressive Heavies love it:

  • Deletes Lights and Mediums up close with room for error
  • Follow-up shots mean you win fights you’d lose with a single-shot gun
  • As of Season 12 it’s a confirmed top pick for Winch-based Heavy builds — the season’s meta lists sit it right next to the ShAK-50

Where it struggles:

  • Range limits where you can fight
  • You’re a Heavy — slow to reposition when the fight goes wrong
  • Bad against snipers holding long lanes; you need cover to approach

Who should run it

Heavies who lead the push. The classic pairing is Winch Claw — hook in, hose down, hook out — with RPG-7 for structure denial and Dome Shield for the hold afterward. If you like the KS-23’s aggression but want more forgiveness, this is your upgrade.

The Heavy build guide covers both shotguns in full, and the Season 12 loadout roundup explains the Winch meta.
