THE FINALS ShAK-50 guide: the Heavy battle rifle topping Season 12 tier lists — effective range, attachment ideas, pros and cons, and which builds it fits.
THE FINALS ShAK-50 Guide (Season 12)
Heavies don’t get many accurate guns. The ShAK-50 is the exception — a Heavy battle rifle that hits like a truck and shoots like you actually meant it. It’s rated S-tier for the class as of Season 12 and anchors the popular Winch Aggro loadout (ShAK-50 or SA1216, Winch Claw, RPG-7, Dome Shield, C4). Here’s the breakdown.
What it is
A heavy-caliber battle rifle for the Heavy build. Think of it as the Heavy’s answer to the Medium AR problem: it reaches further, hits harder, and makes Lights think twice before crossing open ground. The trade-off is rate of fire and mobility — you’re a Heavy, after all, even if Season 12 made your class a bit quicker than it used to be.
Engagement range
- Sweet spot: 20 to 40 meters. This is where the ShAK-50 does its work — holding lanes, punishing pushes across open ground, and deleting Lights who think distance saves them.
- Tap-fire discipline matters. At long range, single shots and controlled bursts keep you on target. Holding the trigger down turns it into a vertical laser show.
- Inside 15 meters you’re at a disadvantage against SMGs and shotguns. That’s what your gadgets are for: Goo, Barricades and your team’s Peel exist so you never have to win a pure close-range duel with a battle rifle.
Attachment ideas
Build for control, since the whole point is precision at range:
- Recoil control and muzzle stability — the ShAK-50 kicks, and damping it makes the mid-range taps consistent.
- A magnified optic (2x or higher) if you’re holding lanes on the bigger maps. Vegas open ground and Fangwai’s riverfront are exactly what this gun wants.
- Reload speed or mag size depending on taste. You’ll be firing less often than a Medium, so a faster reload often matters more than extra rounds.
Pros and cons
Why it’s the top Heavy pick right now:
- Accuracy and damage at ranges most Heavy weapons can’t touch
- Rewards positioning instead of panic — you win by holding the right angle
- Strong into Lights, which are half the lobby on most maps
- Pairs perfectly with Winch Claw: pull a Light into your lane and delete them at the range you chose
What you’re signing up for:
- Slow handling. Losing a close-range fight is the default outcome, so pick your spots
- Lower rate of fire means missed shots hurt more than on an LMG
- You’re a Heavy — your movement is still the slowest in the game even after Season 12’s speed tweaks
Who should run it
Heavies who like to hold ground. If your favorite moment in a Cashout match is three enemies pushing your station and dying in the open because you pre-aimed the lane, this is your gun. It fits anchor playstyles: Winch Claw, Dome Shield, RPG-7 and C4 give you the tools to control terrain and force enemies into your sights.
If you’d rather brawl up close, the KS-23 is the Heavy shotgun alternative, and the Heavy build guide covers full loadouts for both styles. The Season 12 meta overview shows how the ShAK-50 fits the current class lineup.
