Battlefield 6 Contaminated Map Guide: The Season 2 German Airbase

How to fight on Battlefield 6's Contaminated — the Season 2 German airbase map: layered space, objective rhythm, vehicle lanes and attack/defend basics.

Contaminated is Season 2’s big map: a European mountainside wrapped around a German airbase, with VL-7 psychoactive smoke hanging over parts of the fight. It dropped in February 2026 and EA sized it between Eastwood and Mirak Valley — big, but not the biggest thing in the rotation.

Mode fit

EA shipped it with Conquest, Breakthrough, Escalation, Squad Deathmatch and Strikepoint. Conquest and Escalation suit it best because the outer ground gives you room to rotate; Breakthrough funnels everyone into the base and turns into a grind. If big-map flow still confuses you, read the Conquest & Breakthrough tips first.

Three layers of space

  • Air: rotary-first. Helicopters work the valleys and the approach lanes to the base. As of Season 5 this isn’t a jet map in the way Golmud or Firestorm is, so don’t build your game around fixed-wing.
  • Ground: tarmac, taxiways and open slopes. Long sightlines the moment you leave cover — armor and marksmen own this layer.
  • Interior: hangars, maintenance rooms and bunker spaces. Tight angles, and the smoke makes indoor pushes feel worse than they actually are.

Key objectives

The airbase is the prize, with the satellite intel objective sitting inside that footprint. The flags around it decide the match: teams trade the outer points while one squad keeps pressure on the base. Holding the base plus two outer flags is usually the winning hand, and over-committing to the middle is how you lose the edges.

Vehicle lanes

Armor belongs on the flat ground — runways and access roads — but a tank rolling straight down open tarmac gets farmed. Work the edges, use terrain as hull-down cover, and never move without an Engineer screen. The tank guide covers the angles that keep you alive here.

Attacking

Smoke is the entire plan. The crossings between outer flags and the base are long and open, and every ridgeline has someone lying on it. Pop smoke, move as four, clear hangars before you commit to a cap. Rotate wide rather than retaking the same lane twice.

Defending

Hold the buildings around the base instead of standing on the flag in the open. Deployable cover at the open entries slows a push, and a Recon motion sensor on the flanks buys you ten seconds of warning — which is usually the whole fight. Pre-aim the tarmac lanes; that’s where attackers materialize.

Class and loadout notes

As of Season 5 the safe mix is Assault or Support for the objective work, Engineer whenever armor is up, and Recon if your team is getting picked crossing open ground. Force at least one Engineer into every squad — see the classes guide — and build for mid-range with the attachment guide. If you like this scale, Railway to Golmud is the bigger version.
