Battlefield 6 New Sobek City Map Guide: Suburban Cairo Lanes
Fight smart in Battlefield 6's New Sobek City—the Cairo outskirts launch map, its layered space, key objectives, vehicle routes, and attack-defense plans.
New Sobek City sits on the outskirts of Cairo — a launch map that trades the dense old city for wider suburban blocks and longer sightlines. It’s a step up in vehicle relevance from Siege of Cairo.
Mode fit
Plays well in Conquest and Breakthrough. The mix of open blocks and built-up centers means both armor and infantry get their moments. Keep your squad flexible — you’ll pivot between road fights and building clears. See Conquest & Breakthrough tips.
Three layers of space
- Air: more room than central Cairo. Attack helis can work the edges, but the scattered buildings still break sightlines.
- Ground: the wider streets and plazas let armor operate, while the denser blocks pull fights into CQB.
- Interior: homes and markets are the classic close-quarters traps — clear before you commit a push.
Key objectives
Objectives straddle the open and built-up zones. The central flags are the tug-of-war; the outer ones are easier to flip but leave you exposed to flank caps. Don’t over-invest in the middle and lose the edges to a rotating enemy.
Vehicle lanes
Tanks and IFVs belong on the broader suburban roads, using buildings as hull-down cover rather than pushing blind into open blocks. An Engineer screen is non-negotiable — a lone tank here is a free kill. The tank guide covers angling that matters on these longer lines.
Attacking
Use the buildings to break line of sight and leapfrog toward the center. Smoke crossings across the open plazas, and don’t walk the streets when a rooftop Recon can see them. Squad up — see the squad guide.
Defending
Hold the structures around each flag and pre-aim the street approaches. Deployable Cover at open entries slows attackers, and a Recon Motion Sensor on the flanks buys early warning. Defended buildings are nasty to clear.
Compare the two Cairo-area maps in Siege of Cairo. For pure infantry fighting nearby, try the old town in Saints Quarter.
Class and loadout notes
As of Season 5, the safe default is Assault or Support for objective work, Engineer whenever armor is in play, and Recon where the sightlines favor marksmen. On vehicle maps force an Engineer into every squad; on infantry-only maps drop the repair habit and lean on Support revives. Build your gun with the attachment guide and confirm your role in the classes guide.
