Battlefield 6 M2010 ESR: The Default Sniper That's Still Number One

The M2010 ESR is Battlefield 6's top-ranked bolt-action sniper — one-shot headshots, 900 m/s velocity. Build, positioning and how to survive as Recon.

The M2010 ESR is the sniper rifle every player starts with, and it has stayed the number one pick in the category through Season 5. High bullet velocity, a quick bolt cycle for a bolt-action, and the lethality to end a fight with one clean headshot at any range. The new ELR-40 from Season 5 gives it competition, but the M2010 is still the benchmark.

The numbers that matter

  • 100 damage per round. A headshot is a one-shot elimination at any range. An upper-chest hit usually isn’t — aim high.
  • 900 m/s base muzzle velocity and a 1.7x headshot multiplier. Velocity is why it feels better than the alternatives: less lead on moving targets, flatter trajectory over the lanes where most sniping happens.
  • 43 RPM bolt cycle, 5-round magazine, slow ADS and a long reload. Roughly one shot per second and a punishing mistake window. Positioning is your armor.

Controlling it

  • Hold pre-aim at head height and only re-peek after the scope fully recenters. The bolt cycle is quick — use it instead of waiting for a perfect angle forever.
  • One shot, then move. Scope glint gives you away the moment you fire, and every enemy Recon is looking for it. Two kills from one nest is the realistic ceiling.
  • Know the limb multipliers. Since Update 1.3.3.0, snipers deal reduced damage to stomach and limbs, so headshot-or-nothing is stricter than it used to be — a low-chest shot is often a two-shot kill.

Attachment direction

You’ve got 100 points. The consensus long-range build:

  • Barrel: 26” Carbon. Big velocity boost — the most important part on this gun.
  • Ammunition: Match Grade. More velocity on top of the barrel. Leading targets stops being guesswork.
  • Bolt: DLC Bolt. Faster rechambering means you don’t unscope between shots. This is what enables the aggressive quick-scope style.
  • Scope: S-VPS 6.00x. Enough magnification for 75-to-100-meter work without the handling tax of a 10x.
  • Optic accessory: Anti-Glare Coating. Reduces scope glint — the number of enemy snipers who know exactly where you are.
  • Left accessory: Range Finder. Easier zeroing and distance calls when you’re sharing targets with the squad.
  • Muzzle: suppressor of your choice. Standard keeps velocity, CQB trades a little for sound suppression.

Positioning that keeps you alive

  • Pick nests with two exits, not one. The moment you’re known, you’re flanked.
  • Fight from the second floor, not the rooftop. Same sightlines, less sky behind you.
  • Use the Recon spawn beacon aggressively — get down, take the shot, redeploy somewhere different.
  • Smoke your exit. Breaking line of sight through open ground without it is how snipers die.

Who should run it

  • Patient players with good trigger discipline. This is a “wait for the perfect angle” gun, not a run-and-gun gun.
  • Anyone on open maps — Area 51, Mirak Valley, Railway to Golmud.
  • Recon mains who want to support the squad, not just farm kills: motion sensors, marks and beacons make you worth more than your K/D.
