Ajax Build Guide – The Walking Bunker Your Squad Hides Behind
An Ajax tank build for The First Descendant: barrier skills, Void Energy enhancements, and the defensive modules that make him effectively unkillable.
Ajax is the tank, full stop. He is not going to top any damage chart, but he creates safe zones, reflects damage, and stuns whole packs so your squishy DPS can do their job. If you like being the guy everyone thanks for not dying, main him.
Barrier and Control Kit
- Orbit Barrier throws up a front shield whose durability scales with HP and DEF, and it reflects damage back at attackers when enhanced.
- Hypercube is the dome version – a team-wide safe house that also grants allies Firearm ATK when enhanced.
- Void Walk leaps and slams, stunning everything nearby.
- Expulsion knocks enemies back to make space.
- Passive Event Horizon banks Void Energy from every skill; fill it and your skills gain extra effects (more reflect, more shield, ally damage).
Building the Bunker
Stack HP and DEF because his shields literally scale off them. Increased HP and HP Amplification are core. Increased DEF, Tech Specialist (his Void Walk and Expulsion are Tech), and Shield Conversion round it out. Skill Expansion widens every bubble and stomp, and Nimble Fingers keeps his energy flowing. Spear and Shield adds both skill power and defense.
Reactor and Weapons
Ajax’s barriers are Dimension, his other skills Tech, so a Materialized Mechanics (Tech + Non-Attribute) or Materialized Phase (Non-Attribute + Dimension) reactor fits. For guns, Albion Cavalry Gun is perfect – it rewards hitting stunned enemies, and Void Walk stuns whole groups. Secret Garden and Tamer are strong backups.
Playstyle
Push forward, drop Hypercube on the objective, and Orbit Barrier toward the incoming fire. Build Void Energy by spamming skills, then enjoy the enhanced versions. He is the safest pick for new players and a staple in hard-mode group content. See where he lands in tfd-tier-list, and once you want to push his defenses, tfd-reactor-external-components breaks down component sets. Pair him with a healer from tfd-yujin-build for an unbreakable core.
