How to Play Raven in The First Descendant
Raven is the strongest Descendant in Season 4 — instant repositioning plus shotgun aggression. Here is how her kit works, the build, and the playstyle that clears endgame.
Raven arrived in August 2026 and immediately became the strongest Descendant in the game. The reason is a kit built for aggressive, close-range play — instant repositioning that no other character has, paired with a shotgun playstyle that rewards the aggression.
She is also demanding. Raven dies to players who play her at range. This guide covers the kit, the build, and the playstyle that makes her work.
The kit
Her identity: a mobile close-range burst dealer. Everything in her kit is built around closing distance instantly, dealing massive close-range damage, and getting out before the enemies answer.
The mobility skill. Her signature — instant repositioning that moves her across the map in a blink. It is the tool that defines her: it closes gaps, escapes bad fights, and repositions mid-combo. Learn its range and cooldown first; everything else is built on top of it.
The shotgun. Her preferred weapon type, and the reason she plays close. Shotguns reward the aggressive positioning her mobility enables.
The passive. Her damage scales with the aggressive playstyle the kit demands — the closer and the more mobile, the more damage. Build around it.
The playstyle
Close the distance instantly. Use the mobility skill to enter shotgun range immediately. Do not walk — blink. The window where the enemy is reacting is where your damage lands.
Burst, then reposition. Raven’s pattern: enter, unload, leave. She does not sustain fights at close range — she wins them in one exchange and repositions before the counterattack.
Use the mobility defensively too. The same skill that closes distance escapes it. When a fight goes wrong, blink out. Raven’s escapes are as strong as her engages.
Stay aggressive. Her damage falls off at range. A Raven playing at distance is a Raven doing a fraction of her damage. The character demands the close game.
The build
Weapon: a shotgun. Her signature type. Level it to cap — the weapon is half her damage.
The damage-source modules. Amplify the shotgun and the mobility skill’s damage contribution first. This is the largest gain.
The mobility modules. Cooldown reduction on the repositioning skill is the highest-value utility mod for her. Her entire loop depends on that skill being available.
One or two defensive modules. Raven is squishy when the blink is on cooldown. A single well-rolled defensive module covers the gap.
The Transcendent modules. Her current Transcendent modules — Nightfall and Law of the Back Alley — amplify her aggressive kit. They are the endgame chase for her.
Where she excels
Onslaught. The wave mode rewards fast clearing and repositioning, which is exactly her kit. She is the current meta pick for a reason — she clears stages faster than almost anything else.
The Mega Dungeon. The large-scale fights give her room to blink around and shotgun the clumps of enemies the dungeon throws at you.
Open world. Her mobility makes the map traversal and the random encounters fast.
Where she struggles
Long-range bosses. The Colossus fights at range are her weakest matchups. Blink in, burst, blink out — do not try to sustain.
When the blink is down. The cooldown windows are when she dies. Track it, and play safer when it is not available.
The one thing to remember
Blink in, unload, blink out. Raven is the strongest Descendant in the current meta because no other character closes distance that fast — play her at range and she is mediocre, play her in their face and she clears endgame faster than anything else in the game.
