Serena Build Guide — Flying Fire DPS in The First Descendant
How to build Serena for Season 4: the best flying fire DPS loadout, reactor, modules, Transcendent options, and how to unlock her.
Serena is the poster child of Season 4 for a reason: she flies, she deletes rooms, and her Redemption/Judgment flip makes her one of the few Descendants who can out-DPS a Serena-less group. If you want a high-skill, high-reward DPS, this is your pick.
What Serena actually does
Her kit is Fire with a Singularity twist. Divinity (passive) rewards you for firing while airborne — more ATK, better accuracy, less recoil. Sacred Flame and Ascension paint enemies with Repentance (works like Burn) and, while Ascension is up, drop your gravity so you hover. Soar is your engage/dash and reload, and Redemption is the win button: on the ground it heals and strips debuffs, in the air it slaps Redemption’s Judgment on you for a massive AoE damage boost.
Best weapon pairing
For bossing, Last Dagger and Executor (shotgun) are the classic Serena weapons because her fourth-skill weapon damage ignores skill-DPS scaling — you want raw firearm DPS. Greg’s Reversed Fate is the sneaky MVP: its explosions proc off every Redemption/Judgment hit, and it feeds MP through Ascension’s crit recovery. Fallen Hope is great for multi-hit meme clears. As a stat stick, Secret Garden’s sprint and grapple-hook cores keep you airborne longer.
Reactor + skill match
Because her weapon damage isn’t skill-scaled, you don’t need a perfect skill-DPS reactor. A Burning Singularity with Skill Duration + Skill Cooldown is the comfort pick to keep Redemption and Ascension permanent. Honestly, any reactor with those two lines works fine.
Core modules
Archangel (ancestor) is the foundation, then Skill Concentration, Focus on Fire, Battle HP Amplification, Hope’s Resolution, Skill Expansion, Nimble Fingers, Front Lines, and Emergency Measures. Stack Max HP — it scales her Judgment damage and keeps you alive while exposed mid-air.
Transcendent Module
Take Hymn (replaces Soar) for the team-wide movement-speed and Jump buff and to lean into the flying fantasy, or Divine Surge (replaces Redemption) for a pure damage nuke. Most solo bossers run Hymn.
How to get Serena
She’s a store purchase or research unlock — no raid gating. Farm the gold and materials from the unlock guide.
Beginner friendliness: High effort
Serena is NOT a press-4-and-win Descendant. You’re managing MP, hover uptime, and repositioning constantly. Worth it, but learn the ropes in our beginner guide first, and check the tier list to see where she sits.
