Ammo and Penetration Guide for ABI

In ABI the round beats the rifle. Understand armor classes versus ammo penetration, the T4/T5 rules, and why cheap guns on good ammo win.

In ABI the round beats the rifle. A new player with a cheap gun and top-tier ammo will out-perform a meta rifle firing weak rounds. Penetration class decides more fights than the name on the receiver.

How penetration class beats armor

Armor in ABI comes in classes, often called tiers, with plates that absorb hits up to a limit. When a bullet’s penetration class exceeds the plate’s class, it goes through. When it does not, the plate eats the damage and your enemy keeps shooting. This is why the gun matters less than the mag.

Is T4 ammo enough for PvP

T4 ammunition is the practical minimum for PvP. Below that, you will struggle against anyone wearing real plates. T5 is the safer choice in Forbidden, where geared players are common. Match your ammo to the armor you expect to meet, not to the gun you happen to own.

Season caps and secure case rules

Season rules cap what you can bring. Season 7 lets T4 ammo into Normal and T5 into Lockdown, with higher tiers reserved for the riskier modes. Check the in-game market before each raid, because premium penetrative ammo can be expensive and its price swings.

Note that premium T6 and T7 ammo can no longer be protected inside Secure Cases. That changes how you stockpile. Keep a working stack in your container, but do not assume the highest tier is always safe to hoard there.

Why a cheap gun with good ammo wins

A general rule worth repeating: a cheap AK firing top-tier rounds beats an expensive rifle on weak ammo. Spend your Koen on the magazine first, the gun second. Recoil control you can build; penetration you must buy. The armor and helmet guide shows what those plates actually stop.

The budget loadouts guide explains how to build a cheap kit that still punches above its price through ammo alone.

Remember this: buy the best ammo you can afford before you buy the fanciest gun, because pen class wins the fight.
