If you only run Farm
Farm is where keys teach you the habit. The Motel carries two rooms worth opening, so a single visit pays twice if you hold both keys. Run Master Bedroom early, before the lobby fills, then sweep to the Motel on your way out.
Motel 201 is the weak one. It holds a safe and a medical spawn, and it only makes sense when you already have the Main Guest Room key in your pocket.
If you’re on Northridge
Northridge is a hotel puzzle, and the naming trips people up. Building B and Building D are blocks of the Northridge Hotel, not Farm buildings. If you are searching “building d projection room” while standing in a Farm barn, you are on the wrong map entirely.
The Manager’s Office sits in the first-floor office of Building B. The Projection Room is the cinema on the second floor of Building D. Both are short clears with a safe each, and both last a long time before they break. That makes them the two safest keys to own on the map.
Stack them with Building B Reception Room and you can clear three rooms in one building without crossing open ground.
What nobody tells you about durability
Keys burn faster than you expect, and the difficulty tier decides how fast. Normal costs one use per open, Lockdown costs more, Forbidden more again. A key that looks like it will last a month can be gone in a week of Forbidden runs.
So check the remaining uses before you buy one off the market. A half-dead key priced like a fresh one is the most common bad trade in the game.
When to sell instead
A key for a map you never run is dead Koen sitting in your stash. Sell it. The make Koen fast guide covers turning spares into cash, and the keys guide covers the full list per map.
Match what you keep to where you play. The Farm map guide and Northridge map guide show where each door actually is, which matters more than what’s behind it.
One rule holds everywhere: a key room on the way to your extract beats a rich room that strands you on the wrong side of the map.
