Arena Breakout Tactics: Peeking, Angles, and Holding
Extraction fights are won on positioning. Learn to peek, hold angles, and disengage cleanly
In an extraction shooter the losing side of a fight usually lost it before the first shot. Positioning decides who sees whom first, and gear only decides what happens after that — which is why a cheap kit behind a good angle beats expensive armour standing in the open.
The first shot is a positioning problem
Two players of equal aim do not have an even fight if one of them is exposed. The work happens before contact: pick the route that keeps cover between you and the likely approach, and arrive at contested ground from the side nobody is covering. Walking the obvious path is what makes a fight fair, and fair fights cost gear.
Peeking: what the peek actually commits you to
A wide peek puts your whole body where the enemy is already aiming. A crouch-peek or a swing that arrives at chest height with your sight already up gives them a smaller target for the same information. The point of the peek is information, not damage: if you learn nothing, you have traded health for nothing.
Never re-peek the same corner the same way. The second peek is the one that gets punished, because the enemy now has your head height and the timing.
Holding an angle worth holding
Hold the angle the enemy has to cross, not the one you enjoy looking at. That usually means holding from an offset position so you are not the first silhouette in the doorway, and holding far enough back that you can fall off the angle without being chased through it.
Sound does half the work here. Every reposition, every reload and every door is information, and holding still with your ears open often beats holding still with your sight up.
Disengaging is a skill, not a defeat
When a duel turns, break line of sight and reset instead of finishing it out of pride. Pushing a losing fight to save the gear you are already carrying is how the gear gets lost anyway. If you are carrying secure-container items, remember the run is a total loss if you die — there is no partial credit for a nearly-won fight.
Route planning before the raid
Pick a route with two ways out of every room and a fallback if the first one is contested. The route that has one exit is a route you only get to use once, and the exit is where extraction shooters kill people.
The audio guide covers what you can hear and where, and the stealth guide covers avoiding the fight entirely.
