Deploy Bipod in Battlefield 6: When and How to Use

Mount your LMG or rifle for steadier fire. Learn the two ways a bipod deploys in matches.

A bipod turns a shaky long-range gun into a steady platform. Deploy it and your recoil and sway fall off fast.

There are two ways to use it.

Mount to cover. Get close to a low wall, sandbag, or window ledge. Aim down sights while hugging the surface and the legs snap out on their own. You will feel the gun settle.

Go prone. Lie down with a bipod weapon and the mount engages against the ground. This is the safest bet when no cover is near.

Which guns even have one?

LMGs and several support rifles ship with a bipod by default. Some marksman rifles take one as an underbarrel attachment. Check the gun’s stats screen; if it lists a bipod, the mount works.

The prone trick most players miss

Going prone near a low wall combines both methods. The gun rests on the ground and the surface, giving the steadiest possible shot. Snipers love this on rooftops.

When should you bother?

  • Hold a lane against enemy pushes.
  • Suppress a doorway during a breakthrough.
  • Snipe from a rooftop edge with no rail to rest on.
  • Cover a vehicle while it repairs.

When not to deploy

In a fast push, the mount slows your swap and scramble. If you need to move in two seconds, skip it. A bipod is for holding, not for running.

Do not deploy mid-sprint. The mount needs you still, and a moving gun will not lock. Practice the timing in a safe space first. Our LMG guide shows which guns benefit most from the rest.

Recoil control still matters with the bipod up. Pair the mount with the tips in weapon recoil attachments for tighter bursts.

For a wider look at strong picks, see the best weapons guide. A bipod alone will not save a weak gun. Bipods are class-agnostic in most cases, but Supports and Engineers lean on them more.

Practice the mount in the firing range before a match. The firing range guide lets you test recoil with and without the bipod side by side. You will feel the difference in your first burst, and that confidence carries into live fights.
