BF6 Guided Launcher Guide: M136 AT, MBT-LAW and Glaive

Three different launchers get called 'guided'. How each one steers, why your missile eats dirt, and when the dumb-fire RPG is still the better pick.

You’re the only Engineer on the point. An IFV sits hull-down behind a ridge and your squad is bleeding tickets to it. Your last missile just buried itself in the dirt, because you flinched off the crosshair mid-flight.

That’s the guided launcher experience. Here’s how to stop it happening.

“Which one is the guided launcher?”

Three of them, and they behave nothing alike.

  • M136 AT (aim-guided) — you fly the missile. Keep your crosshair on the target after firing and it follows your aim.
  • MBT-LAW (auto-guided) — fire and forget. It steers itself toward whatever it detects and tips over into a top-down hit.
  • MAS 148 Glaive (long-range) — lock-on, extreme range, and the one that ruins aircraft.

The SLM-93A Spire is the anti-air lock-on, and the RPG-7V2 is dumb-fire with no guidance at all.

“Why does my missile fly into the ground?”

Because you stopped steering it. With the M136, the missile goes where your reticle goes, all the way to impact. Snap your view away to check a flank and it goes wherever you were last looking.

The fix is boring: pick the shot, commit, and don’t look away until it hits.

The MBT-LAW has the opposite problem. It has no lock and won’t chase a painted target, so firing at nothing wastes the tube.

“Do I need a lock?”

Depends on the tube. The M136 and the MBT-LAW need no lock at all. The Glaive and the Spire do, and you have to hold the lock long enough for the missile to track.

Recon makes that faster. A Tracer Dart or a Laser Designator speeds up acquisition and extends your lock range. It’s the best reason to run launchers alongside a friend. Details in the Recon guide.

“Can I use it on aircraft?”

The Glaive, yes — that’s its job, and it hits hard enough to matter.

The M136 is contested. Some players report one-shotting helicopters with it; others say it can’t. Treat it as an anti-ground tool and be pleasantly surprised when a helicopter falls.

Either way, the Spire is the honest answer to aircraft. The vehicle guide covers which hulls are worth a rocket at all.

“Should I just take the RPG instead?”

For pure damage on ground armor, the RPG is usually stronger if your aim is good. No flight time to ruin, no steering to mess up.

Guided tubes earn their slot when you need a specific weak point, or a shot curled around cover. They also win at ranges where a dumb-fire rocket is a guess.

Angle matters more than the tube. Side and rear armor beats frontal hits on almost everything, which the tank guide goes into.

Getting them unlocked

The M136 comes off the Engineer Specialist challenge track and the Glaive sits behind global rank progression, so neither is an early unlock. Check the class challenge tab in-game for your exact requirement rather than trusting any list — including this one.
