Destiny 2 Light Subclasses: Solar, Arc, and Void
Solar, Arc, and Void are Destiny 2's Light subclasses. Understand each Supers, grenades, and melees before layering on Dark powers.
Players rush toward Stasis and Strand and never learn the Light subclasses that everything else builds on. Solar, Arc, and Void are the foundation, and skipping them leaves gaps you feel in every endgame fight.
Solar, Arc, and Void compared
Solar is the aggression and sustain element. Its grenades burn, its melee strikes hard, and its Supers range from roaming hunters to supportive Warlock wells. It rewards pushing the fight.
Arc is the speed and chain element. Arc grenades and melee spread damage across groups, and its Supers favor burst and mobility. Good for players who like momentum.
Void is the control and survivability element. It grants invisibility, suppression, and devour healing. Hunters vanish, Titans bubble, Warlocks feed. It is the calm, tactical choice.
Supers, grenades, and melees
Each subclass gives you a grenade, a melee, a class ability, and a Super. The Super is your big moment, and every class has a distinct one per element. Learn what each does before layering on extras.
Fragments are shared across classes; Aspects are class-specific. The same rule applies to every subclass you will ever learn, so Light is the best place to start.
Master one Light subclass first
Master one Light subclass per class you play. Comfort here makes Dark subclasses and Prismatic far easier. Our best subclass guide for beginners picks a smooth start.
When you are ready, our Stasis guide and Strand guide add the Dark layer on top.
Try each element before committing
Switch elements between activities to feel their rhythm before you commit. A week with each Light subclass teaches more than any video ever will. Notice which grenade and Super match your instincts, then build from there.
The foundation you lay now supports everything later. Each element also changes how your grenade feels, so test them back to back to learn the contrast.
Learn Solar, Arc, and Void first, and every Dark power you add later will make sense instead of overwhelm.
