Destiny 2 Prismatic Subclass Guide
Prismatic lets Destiny 2 Guardians mix Light and Dark and build toward Transcendence. It powers most endgame builds — here is the entry path.
Prismatic looks like the ultimate subclass, so players unlock it and immediately feel lost. It mixes everything at once, and without the basics it is noise. Approach it as the capstone it is, not a starting point.
What Prismatic actually is
Prismatic lets your Guardian mix Light and Dark elements in one subclass. You can pair a Solar grenade with a Strand melee, then build toward a state called Transcendence that boosts both halves.
How Transcendence works
Transcendence is the payoff. Fill the meter through ability kills and gameplay, then trigger it for a stronger, fused state. Most endgame builds lean on it because the uptime is worth the setup.
It powers the majority of top endgame builds for a reason: flexibility. You are not locked to one element, so you answer any encounter with the right tool. That is why streamers favor it.
Learn Light and Dark first
Do not adopt it cold. Prismatic assumes you know the Light subclasses and at least one Dark one. Learn those first, or the fragment web will bury you.
Our Light subclasses guide and Strand guide are the prep work.
Fragments are shared across classes; Aspects stay class-specific. The same rule from every subclass applies, just with more pieces to place. Our buildcrafting basics explains the structure.
Unlock Prismatic and practice
Unlock Prismatic through its quest when it becomes available, then experiment in low-stakes activities before raids. Transcendence timing is a feel you build.
Treat it as the end of the learning path, not the start. Our best subclass guide for beginners sets the order.
Give yourself a few weeks with the basics before chasing it. Rushing Prismatic without the foundations wastes the very flexibility that makes it strong. Play each element in real activities so the mix feels natural later. Patience here pays in every endgame run.
Learn the elements first, then adopt Prismatic as the capstone that turns separate skills into one build.
