Black Hawk Down Requirements and Config

Check your PC or phone against the official specs before downloading the 28GB campaign content.

Black Hawk Down is a free download, but it is a large one — roughly 28GB on top of the base client — and it is the most sustained-load content in Delta Force. Long missions stress hardware differently than a quick multiplayer match does. Check your machine against the official numbers before you commit the disk space.

The official floors

PC: the developers list a GTX 1060-class graphics card or higher as the recommended tier, with a modern multicore processor expected around it. Like the multiplayer floor, this is a class rather than a single card — current equivalents from either vendor clear it comfortably.

Mobile: Snapdragon 865-class or newer on Android, iPhone 11 or newer on iOS.

Two notes on how to read these:

  • The floors cover the campaign at its default settings. The night chapter and the final advance — the heaviest crowd and effects scenes in the campaign — are where near-minimum hardware feels it first.
  • Integrated graphics does not meet the floor, on either platform.

Where to get the download

The campaign ships as free DLC through the same channels as the map packs: the Steam DLC list under the game’s Properties, and the in-game download center in the launcher. If the two lists disagree about what is installed, the launcher’s manifest is the one that counts. The PC requirements page covers the multiplayer-side numbers, and the storage breakdown shows how the 28GB campaign layer sits on top of the base client and map packs.

If frames drop during the campaign

Long sessions expose thermal and driver problems that short matches hide. Work the problem in order:

  1. Confirm the floor. A machine under the GTX 1060 / Snapdragon 865 line will not tune its way to smooth play.
  2. Baseline at defaults. Run one mission at default settings to see what the game looks like untouched before changing anything.
  3. Cut the expensive three. Shadows, effects quality, and view distance give back the most frames for the least visual loss — and in a campaign where reading the ground matters, view distance is the last of the three to touch.
  4. Rule out the local causes. Background load, thermal throttling, and stale drivers produce frame drops on capable machines too. The four-step tuning method walks the full sequence.

On phones, sustained load is a thermal problem before it is a settings problem: a chapter-long session will throttle a device that handles short multiplayer matches fine. The mobile overheating guide covers frame-rate caps, quality trade-offs, and cooling routines that hold up across a full mission.

Storage planning

A full multiplayer install already runs near 107GB with every map pack; the campaign adds roughly 28GB on top. Leave headroom beyond the total for patch staging and shader caches, and remember the campaign can be removed and reinstalled freely — nothing in multiplayer depends on it.

Verify before you blame the campaign

If your hardware clears the floor and the campaign still stutters where multiplayer runs fine, suspect the local causes in step four first: this is the same engine running a longer, denser scene, and the usual suspects — drivers, thermals, background software — explain most reports.
