Delta Force Detonation 5v5: Bomb Rules and Buy Guide
Learn how the plant/defuse rounds work, how the credit economy decides your buy, and which gear to prioritize on eco rounds.
Detonation is Delta Force’s 5v5 bomb-defusal mode: one team attacks with the charge, the other defends the sites and defuses before the timer ends. It launched in beta form, so expect the rule set to be tuned between versions; the skeleton below is what every playlist shares and is enough for your first matches.
Round flow
- Buy phase — spend credits on a primary weapon, armor, and utility.
- Execute — attackers take a site and plant; defenders rotate, retake, or defuse.
- Round end — the round finishes on a wipe, a detonation, a defuse, or the clock.
| Outcome | Winner |
|---|---|
| Attackers eliminated, no plant | Defenders |
| Defenders eliminated | Attackers |
| Bomb detonates | Attackers |
| Bomb defused | Defenders |
| Time expires with no plant | Defenders |
Timer length and credit rewards vary by playlist, and the mode card on the queue screen lists the values for the one you selected — read it there rather than carrying numbers between playlists.
The economy, round by round
Credits come from kills, from winning and losing rounds, and from a successful plant. You spend them at the start of each round. As in most bomb modes, consecutive losses pay a growing bonus, which is why a team that is behind should force early fights instead of saving — the loss bonus is the economy’s way of keeping the round count meaningful.
| Credits on hand | Decision |
|---|---|
| Enough for rifle plus armor | Full buy, every round you can afford it |
| One round lost, short of a rifle | Force buy only if the enemy team is also saving; otherwise save |
| Under half a rifle | Eco: pistols, maybe one utility, save for next round |
| Enemy team on eco | Buy armor-heavy and play slow; do not overpush into their saves |
Armor is the priority buy in almost every round. When rifles kill in a few well-placed shots, surviving one extra hit wins more duels than a slightly better gun.
What transfers from the rest of the game
- Gunplay — recoil patterns, penetration tiers, and headshot multipliers come from the base game, so the spray control you built in Operations applies here. The aim drills are the same drills.
- Map knowledge — grenade physics and audio cues are Delta Force’s own. Learn each map’s site setups, common plant spots, and defender angles by replaying the same map.
- The mode card — each playlist can tweak rules such as rounds to win, overtime, and operator availability. Read the queue screen before the buy phase; if a detail affects your buy, confirm it in-game.
How to improve fast
- Learn two maps’ site setups before touching the rest of the rotation.
- Default to armor; drop a gun tier before you drop armor.
- Save utility for executes and retakes, not for opening picks.
- Review losses by round: most trace back to a bad buy or a split push, not a missed shot.
Detonation sits beside Operations and Warfare rather than inside them; the mode comparison page explains how the three modes divide your time.
