Delta Force Tide Prison Budget Loadout Framework
Enter Tide Prison with a minimum viable kit you can afford to lose ten times, not your best gear.
Tide Prison is the hard map: the loot justifies the risk, and the player population is the deadliest in the pool. That combination makes it the worst place to bring your best kit and the best place to bring a kit you can replace without feeling it. This page builds the minimum viable budget loadout — the cheapest entry that still lets you compete — and the rules for spending above it.
The governing principle
Your loadout is a bet sized against your bank. On a hard map, the correct bet size is small relative to total funds, because the loss rate is higher by design. The test is simple: if losing this kit ten times in a row would hurt, it is too expensive for Tide Prison. Sizing is the whole strategy; the specific parts matter less than the price ceiling.
The minimum viable kit
| Slot | Budget principle | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary gun | Reliable mid-tier weapon you actually shoot well | Familiarity beats stats; a gun you can control returns more value |
| Armor | Level appropriate to the fights you expect, not the maximum | Buy one tier above the ammo you expect to face, not the top tier |
| Helmet | One tier below armor is acceptable if funds are tight | Headshots end fights; treat the helmet as a real line item |
| Ammo | The best penetration you can afford to feed every fight | The ammo types guide explains the trade |
| Medical | Enough to recover from two fights, not five | Over-spending here is the classic budget leak |
| Backpack | Just enough for the loot you intend to carry out | A bigger bag invites bigger mistakes |
What to leave at home
The best version of anything. Your rarest gun, your elite armor, your red-tier everything — Tide Prison will take them, and the player who takes them is reading the same map you are. Elite-tier gear has its place, and that place is maps where your skill edge is already proven.
The skill gate
Before Tide Prison, you should extract consistently on easier maps. Zero Dam is the standard training ground: concentrated loot, forgiving layout. If you cannot leave Zero Dam with value most raids, Tide Prison will not teach you — it will bill you. The Tide Prison loot route page covers where value concentrates once you are ready, and the fight-or-avoid tree matters more here than on any other map, because half the population is geared and looking for the fight.
The budget loop
Run the math every session: raid cost versus the value you actually extract. If ten runs of this kit return less than ten runs of the kit cost, the kit is too expensive for the map — adjust one slot at a time, armor down or ammo up, and keep the total under your ceiling. If the bank runs dry mid-experiment, the broke recovery plan restarts the cycle without the panic. Prices and levels shift between patches, so spend on the piece that changes a matchup — an armor tier that stops a common round is worth more than a marginal upgrade elsewhere.
