Ascension Warfare Map Guide: Beach to Summit Push
Break the beach landing, cave network, and summit approach into phases so your squad always knows the next step.
Ascension forces an attacking team through three distinct terrains in a single push: an open beach, a mountain cave network, and a summit position. Each zone punishes a different habit — standing in the open on the beach, rushing alone in the caves, and ignoring height on the summit. Treat the map as three small maps played in order.
Zone 1: the beach
The landing zone is open ground where vehicle fire and long-range infantry both work. Attackers should land in groups rather than one by one; a trickle of solo players feeds the defenders’ aim. Defenders win this zone by holding the ridge line at the far edge and forcing attackers to fight uphill.
- Attackers: land with the squad, use smoke to cross the open middle, and let vehicles suppress the ridge before infantry closes.
- Defenders: hold the ridge with crossfire pairs and fall back only when the caves are lost — the beach is the easiest ground to trade for time.
Zone 2: the cave network
The mountain interior turns the fight close-quarters. Sound matters more than sight down here, and long sightlines disappear. Shotguns, SMGs, and smoke outperform long-range rifles inside the caves.
Rules that keep squads alive in the tunnels:
- Move in pairs so one player can trade for the other.
- Control junctions, not corridors — a player deep in a tunnel with no backup gets shot from the side passage.
- Throw smoke at junctions you do not intend to clear yet; it buys repositioning time.
- Listen. Footsteps carry in confined spaces, and holding still for five seconds tells you whether the passage ahead is held.
Zone 3: the summit
The top of the map is open again and usually hosts the final objective. Height is the whole game here: whoever holds the high rocks can shoot down onto the approach and force the other team into bad angles. Attackers should take the summit with smoke and grenades, not a straight walk up the ramp; defenders should never commit the whole team to the low ground.
Phase checklist for attackers
| Phase | Trigger to advance | What to bring |
|---|---|---|
| Beach | Ridge line suppressed, smoke on the middle | Vehicle support, at least one smoke source |
| Caves | Ridge cleared, squad paired up | Short-range guns, throwables |
| Summit | Cave exits controlled | Smoke, grenades, a player watching the flanks |
If an attack stalls in the caves, reset to the beach rather than trickling forward — the attack and defend guide covers reset timing in detail. Vehicle choices for the open zones are in the vehicle guide, and the mode overview explains how objectives and respawns structure the whole match.
