How to Pick a Faction in World War Mode
Weigh player balance, supply-line position, and campaign strength before choosing a side in World War Mode battles.
World War Mode asks you to pick a side, and the side you pick decides where on the campaign map you spawn, which direction you attack, and how full the queues are when you log in. Faction choice is not a loyalty question; it is a logistics question. Here is the framework.
The three factors
1. Player balance. Every campaign map has a population split between factions, and it shifts as players join the side that is winning. A lopsided population means long queues on the popular side and faster matches on the underdog. Check the current split on the campaign interface before you queue — the game shows how populated each faction’s battles are.
2. Supply-line position. A faction whose territory is being pushed back fights defensive battles near its spawn; a faction on the offensive fights farther from home. Defensive battles are shorter to reach and easier to sustain across a session; offensive battles offer more ground to gain. Neither is better in the abstract — pick the one that matches how long you plan to play.
3. Campaign strength. A faction that is advancing has momentum: more territory, better positions, more players. Joining a losing side is the harder fight; joining the winning side is the faster queue. If your goal is rewards per hour, momentum matters; if your goal is a challenge, the losing side is honest work.
The decision table
| If you value… | Pick | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Fast queues and shorter battles | The underpopulated faction | Queue times track population |
| Steady, low-pressure sessions | The side on the defensive | Defensive sectors are closer to spawn and simpler to hold |
| Maximum campaign gains | The advancing faction | Offensive wins convert directly into front-line movement |
| A competitive fight | The losing faction | Fewer teammates carrying, more even battles |
What not to base the choice on
Do not pick a faction because of real-world preference, and do not pick one because a streamer recommended it. Population and map position change daily; what was the smart side last week can be the slow queue this week. Re-evaluate each session — the campaign interface in-game is the only current source for population and front position.
How this interacts with the rest of the mode
Your faction choice determines which battles you queue into, but the skills are the same: read the beginner tips, bring a battle rating that fits the front, and remember that mode rewards follow the same loop as the rest of the game — see World War Mode rewards before you plan a dedicated farming run.
