ARC Raiders Scrappy: Free Materials Every Raid
Scrappy collects materials while you are topside, and levelling him pays out on every future raid. What to feed him and why it compounds.
Why he matters
The workshop consumes materials continuously. Benches need metal, plastic, electronics, and fabric, and those are the same materials you would otherwise be looting instead of doing something more valuable. Scrappy converts time into materials passively. That means the raids where you died in the first two minutes still contributed to your progression, which is a rarity in an extraction game.
Levelling him
Scrappy is upgraded by feeding him specific items rather than by spending currency. The list is a mix of household and food items — a dog collar, a cat bed, a comfortable pillow, and various fruits and vegetables — and each one moves him toward the next level. Because those items are ordinary loot rather than rare drops, the practical approach is to keep a list on the PDA equivalent of your stash and grab them when you see them. They are cheap, light, and they convert into a permanent income increase.
What the levels give you
Higher levels increase the quantity of materials he brings back, and the top end adds more passive material per raid. That is compounding: every subsequent raid pays slightly more, forever. Which is why Scrappy is the cheapest long-term investment in the game and the one players skip because it is not exciting. A player who levels Scrappy early is buying materials for every raid they will ever run.
The companion bench question
Scrappy competes with the benches for attention, and the correct order depends on what is limiting you. If you are short of materials, Scrappy first. If you are dying because your gear is bad, the gear bench first — the workshop page explains that decision. Do not neglect him entirely, though. Benches unlock options; Scrappy unlocks throughput. A player with every bench built and no materials is stuck exactly as badly as a player with materials and no benches.
The habit
Claim him every time you return to Speranza, before you spend anything. It takes seconds, and the amount sitting unclaimed is the amount you are not crafting with. Pair that with the Track feature so the upgrade materials glow in raids instead of being forgotten.
