Battlefield 6 Javelin Anti-Cheat: How to Clear Errors
Battlefield 6 ships with Javelin kernel-level anti-cheat. Here is what it does and how to clear common Javelin errors.
You hit play and Battlefield 6 never opens, or a Javelin screen blocks you before the menu loads. That block is the anti-cheat doing its job, and most cases come down to two firmware settings.
Javelin is EA’s in-house anti-cheat. It has protected EA shooters since September 2022 and runs at the kernel level, deeper than a normal program. For Battlefield 6 it is stricter than in past Battlefield games. The game simply will not launch unless Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 are turned on in your system firmware. Javelin only runs while a protected game is open, and it removes itself if you uninstall every EA title that uses it.
Why the requirements exist
Secure Boot lets only signed, trusted bootloaders load. TPM 2.0 logs each boot stage and holds a hardware identity cheats cannot easily wipe. Together they stop the unsigned kernel drivers that aimbots and wallhacks rely on. The trade is access: if your PC can’t meet the bar, you can’t play, and Linux or Steam Deck users are effectively shut out.
Privacy and performance
Javelin reads hardware identifiers to anchor bans to your machine. It pulls motherboard serial, disk serials, MAC address, GPU UUID, and SMBIOS data, then hashes them into one fingerprint. A ban sticks to that fingerprint, so a new account on the same PC gets re-flagged almost at once.
That kernel access is the real concern. A driver bug can affect the whole system, not just the game, and some players reported lock-ups tied to a Javelin patch. Most of the time it does only what it claims, but it is a trust decision you make when you install the game.
Common error states and fixes
The most frequent block is “Secure Boot not enabled” or a TPM 2.0 prompt. Restart into your BIOS, enable Secure Boot and fTPM, then boot back to Windows. On some MSI and ASRock boards a BIOS update is required before Secure Boot will hold.
If you enabled both and the game still won’t start, confirm your OS drive is the boot device and the boot chain is signed. Repair the EA app and update your GPU drivers, since AMD and NVIDIA driver conflicts with Javelin have caused launch failures. Remove input-remapping or macro tools that Javelin can flag, even when closed.
Exact numeric codes shift between patches, so check the in-game message or the EA Help page for the current wording. The error codes fix page covers other launch blockers, and the crash fix guide handles hangs after launch.
Enable Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 first, because Javelin will not let Battlefield 6 start until both are on.
