Destiny 2 Raids: Six-Player Endgame With Real Mechanics
Raids are Destiny 2's six-player endgame: mechanics, communication, and an LFG group. Deep Stone Crypt is the classic entry raid.
New players see raids as the scary end of Destiny 2 and avoid them for months. They are hard, but they are also the most rewarding thing in the game.
What a raid demands from you
A raid is a six-player activity built around mechanics. You solve puzzles under pressure, then survive damage phases that demand real coordination. Communication is not optional.
Finding a raid group without matchmaking
You will not matchmake into a raid. You need a group, usually found through an LFG app or clan. Read how to prepare for raids before you post for one.
Deep Stone Crypt as a first raid
Deep Stone Crypt is the classic entry raid. It arrived with Beyond Light on Europa and teaches clean role division without brutal execution checks. Most groups welcome new runners there.
Raid loot and build prep
Raids pay the best loot in the game. Unique weapons, armor, and cosmetics drop only here. That makes them the peak of the endgame grind.
Buildcrafting matters in raids. A tuned build, explained in the buildcrafting guide, turns a struggling fireteam into a smooth one.
Dungeons are the warm-up. If you can clear a dungeon’s mechanics, you already understand the raid mindset described in the dungeons guide.
Expect to fail the first time. Good raid groups teach as they go, and learning the dance is half the fun.
A strong exotic helps, but the best exotic weapons guide will not carry a silent team. Talk, listen, and follow your role.
Communication can be text or voice, but voice is faster. Most LFG groups expect a mic, so borrow one even if you stay quiet.
Raid loot is shared by rules, not greed. Learn the token or wish system your group uses before the final chest.
Join a teaching raid
New-player raids often run on weekends with teaching groups. Search for “newbie” or “learn” tags and you will find a patient fireteam.
Expect to watch more than you shoot on night one. Learning the shapes of each encounter is real progress even without a clear.
Find a patient group, learn the mechanics, and raids become the content you log in for every week.
