Longbow Ravine Boat Rotations: Water Play

Rotate through Longbow Ravine's water with the new boats, and weigh speed gains against exposure on open water.

The 2.0 revision of Longbow Ravine opened the river channels and, with them, brought boats to Hazard Operations for the first time. Water became a movement layer instead of a wall. That changes rotations, extraction routes, and the map’s risk geometry — and it punishes players who treat a boat as an escape button.

What boats change

  • Rotations get faster. Routes that ran around ridgelines now cut across water. Time-to-loot and time-to-exit both drop.
  • The map gets smaller in a new way. Areas that felt safely separated are now one water line apart. Expect contact in places that used to be quiet.
  • Exposure replaces terrain risk. On a ridge, cover decides survival. On water there is no cover — only speed, angle, and timing.
  • Extraction timing shifts. A boat turns a distant extraction from “not worth it” into “reachable” — which means other squads reach it too.

Boat handling, capacity and availability are patch-sensitive, so plan the route around travel time rather than capacity — the hull you can reach before the timer forces you out is the one that matters.

Rotation framework

  1. Scout the bank before you board. Water is exposed; know who is watching the shoreline.
  2. Board as a squad, move as a squad. A split squad on a rotation arrives in pieces.
  3. Pick the landing before you leave. Decide which bank you step onto and what you do in the first ten seconds after.
  4. Disembark into cover, not into open shore. The last few meters of a water rotation are the most dangerous.
  5. Treat the boat as transport, not a fortress. Fight from it only when the alternative is worse.

Risk principles

  • Predictability is the danger. Water lines are readable; other players can wait where you must land.
  • Visibility replaces terrain cover. Ridges used to hide your rotation; open water reveals it — assume you are seen the moment you leave the bank.
  • Never rotate with a nearly full bag unless the alternative is worse. A full bag plus open water plus an ambush is the map’s worst-case scenario.
  • Extraction runs by water are a two-way bet. You reach the exit faster, and so does everyone responding to you.

Boats are also part of what makes the river areas worth looting — see Longbow Ravine loot routes for the land-side framework. Fight-or-flight judgment on open ground comes from when to fight or avoid. New to the mode? The maps overview and first-raid checklist set the baseline.
