Trainwreck Warfare Map Guide: Rail Cars and Cliffs
Fight car to car on the mountainside, avoid open cliff crossings, and break every crossfire before you push.
Trainwreck runs a railway along a mountainside, with derailed cars providing the cover and sheer drops providing the danger. The map’s rhythm is a series of short, car-to-car fights punctuated by moments where you must cross open ground between cover pieces. The drop on one side means a mistake is not a reposition — it is a death.
The cover chain
Everything on Trainwreck is a chain of cover: car, rock, structure, car. You are never fully safe, but you are never fully exposed either, as long as you move deliberately.
- Pick your next cover before you leave the current one. If you cannot name the piece you are moving to, do not move.
- Move when the lane is quiet. The rail line is long; an enemy with a rifle down the tracks can hit you across most of it. Cross only when no one is shooting from the far side.
- Hug the inside of the cars. The mountainside edge of each car blocks fire from the tracks; the cliff edge blocks nothing.
Cliff crossfire
The map’s signature fight happens where two stretches of track face each other across the drop. Players on either side can shoot across, and the space between is fatal to enter. Two ways to handle a crossfire:
- Break it with grenades and smoke before crossing. Throw both across the gap, then move while the enemy is suppressed or blind.
- Go around it. The structures between the track sections usually offer a lower, protected route. Slower, but alive.
Never try to win a crossfire by peeking faster. The player who initiates a crossfire usually has the angle pre-aimed.
Working the cars
Derailed cars are both cover and rooms. Treat each car like a small building:
- Clear the far end before crossing the middle.
- Watch the gaps between coupled cars — they are firing ports for whoever holds the near side.
- If an enemy holds a car, do not push it head-on. Take the next car, set a player covering both ends, and clear from the side.
Vehicle and squad notes
Vehicles work best holding the flatter stretches near the track ends; on the steep sections they are exposed and slow. Infantry should never walk the track centers in a line — spread along the cover chain so one explosion or one crossfire cannot take the squad.
The attack and defend guide covers how to layer these positions in defense, the mode overview explains objective structure, and Knife Edge is the other map where elevation decides every fight.
