Escape from Tarkov Stash: Space Planning Before Upgrades

Stash pressure is really container pressure. Why buying cases beats upgrading the stash, and the three-organisation rules that stop the mess.

Why cases beat stash levels

A stash upgrade adds cells. A container multiplies cells. A weapon case, an item case or a medicine case each compress a category into a fraction of its footprint, and the compression applies immediately rather than at the end of a long hideout chain. Cost per cell is the comparison. A stash upgrade costs money and hideout materials and takes a module slot in your plan; a case costs money and a single slot in the stash. For the same roubles, the case usually wins until your stash is genuinely enormous.

The three rules

One category per container. Weapons in the weapon case, ammunition in the ammo case, medical items in the med case. Mixed containers waste cells on shape. Nothing you cannot use this wipe. A weapon you are saving for a build you have not unlocked is furniture. Sell it and buy the parts when you need them. The floor rule. Anything sitting on the stash floor rather than in a container is an item you have not decided about. Decide: sell, use, or store in the right case.

What to keep, what to dump

Keep: ammunition you will fire, medical supplies, hideout upgrade items you are actively collecting, and quest items that are hard to find. Dump: duplicate weapons, low-tier armour you will not wear, and anything whose only value is a trader price you could earn back in one raid. The barter page covers the items that look like junk and are not, and the hideout page covers what the upgrade requirements actually are so you do not hoard the wrong components.

The habit that keeps space

Clear the stash before every session, not after. Selling at the start means you know exactly what you own and what you are missing, and it stops the slow accumulation of “maybe useful” items that ends with no space for the kit you actually want to bring. A stash with 40 free cells and no clutter is worth more than a bigger stash full of decisions you have not made.
