Helldivers 2 Evacuate Assets: Doors, Not Kills

The defence mission is a throughput problem. Why killing everything loses it, and how to hold the live door while the structure takes fire.

The objective is a counter

Evacuate Assets does not ask you to survive. It asks you to move a fixed number of civilians through a set of doors, while the enemy tries to destroy the structure they leave from. The counter on screen is the mission, and the enemy is a tax on it. That reframes every decision. A kill that costs thirty seconds of door time is a bad trade. A position that lets you hold a door for two minutes while doing nothing else is a good one.

Doors cycle rather than all opening at once

Each open door becomes the pressure point. Sitting on the door that is currently live beats sitting in the middle of the compound where you can see everything and defend nothing. When the door closes, move. Squads that stay on a finished door are defending a job that is already done.

The structure is the real health bar

Enemy fire damages the facility itself and you cannot repair it. Every minute a Hulk or a strider spends shooting the building is a minute of progress destroyed, which makes anti-armor a defensive tool here rather than an offensive one. Kill priority inverts. A Devastator shooting at you is an annoyance. A tank shooting the structure is the mission failing.

Sentries are the correct spend

Fixed positions defend throughput. A sentry covering an open door keeps working while you handle something else, and it does not need to be told which door is live. Place it behind the door, angled across the approach, and accept that it will die - a sentry that survives the whole mission was probably placed where it was not needed.

What goes wrong

Squads spread out to fight. Squads chase a breach away from the doors. Squads spend the reinforcement budget on the far side of the compound and then cannot reinforce at the door. The discipline is boring: hold the live door, kill what damages the structure, ignore what does not, and let the enemy walk into the kill zone you already built.
