Monster Hunter Wilds Seikret: Mount and Weapon Sling
How the Seikret works in Wilds - riding, the second-weapon sling, calling it for distance and sharpening, and the automatic evade while mounted.
Travel and the auto-evade
You ride the Seikret to chase monsters and cross the open world quickly — when a monster runs, mount up immediately instead of sprinting on foot. While you are mounted, the Seikret automatically evades some monster attacks for you, which makes traversal and repositioning noticeably safer than on foot.
The weapon sling is the real upgrade
The single most important Seikret feature is the weapon sling: it lets you stash a second weapon and swap between two of your choice mid-hunt. That means you can bring, say, a Great Sword for openings and a Switch Axe for sustained damage, or a melee weapon and a bowgun, and change your answer to the monster’s state without returning to camp. This is the closest Wilds comes to a “loadout swap” in the field, and learning to use it is worth more than most gear upgrades early on.
Call it for breathing room
If you find yourself in a pinch — surrounded, low on items, or with a dull weapon — call your Seikret to create distance. While it carries you, you can use items and sharpen your weapon safely. That single habit keeps a bad engagement from becoming a cart, because you get a free window to reset instead of trading hits you cannot win.
Pair it with Focus Mode
The Seikret’s distance tool and the Focus Mode and Wounds system work together: use the mount to reposition to a weak part, then pop Focus Mode to strike it. For the broader fundamentals, read combat basics for new hunters, and if you are still picking a main weapon, the weapon types overview explains what each of the 14 weapons is for.
