Space Marine 2 Class Levelling: One to Twenty-Five
Class XP, weapon mastery and Requisition are three separate tracks. Why spreading them across seven classes makes every build feel weak.
The three tracks
Class level goes to 25 per class, and unlocks that class’s perks. It is per class, not per account. Weapon mastery is per weapon, earned by using it. It raises the weapon’s tier, and it is why the gun you actually shoot is better than the one you own. Requisition is currency, spent on activating perks and buying upgrades. A perk you have unlocked with XP still needs paying for — that is the rule that catches everyone. So a level-25 class can be running a half-finished build, and a max-tier weapon can be sitting in a class you never play. The tracks do not advance each other.
Why one class first
Operations allow only one of each class per squad, so you need a second class eventually. But leveling two at once is the standard mistake. The reason is perk economics. Perks cost Requisition, Requisition comes from completed missions, and missions completed at higher difficulty pay more. Splitting your time keeps every class at a difficulty where the payouts are poor and the perks are half-bought — the specific state where every loadout feels weak. Pick one. Take it to 25. Then level a backup in case your main is taken.
Which one
Tactical or Vanguard for most players, because the first teaches target priority and the second teaches positioning. Both have three-armour or two-armour profiles that are forgiving while you learn the parry timing. The class overview covers the full roster. The backup should cover your main’s gap: if you play Sniper, learn a frontline class so you are not useless when the squad needs one.
Difficulty is the multiplier
XP and Requisition scale steeply with difficulty — a Lethal clear pays several times what Minimal does. But a failed run pays nothing, so the efficient difficulty is the highest one you clear reliably. That is not a contradiction; it is the same advice as farming. Two clean Substantial runs beat one Ruthless wipe on both counts. The difficulty table has the exact figures.
The shared economy is the shortcut
Most of what you earn is not per class. Requisition and Armoury Data are account-wide: every class and weapon you own pulls from the same wallet and the same data pool. Only class level and weapon mastery are locked to the thing you are using.
That is why “one class to 25” is not just comfortable, it is fast. Get one class to Ruthless or Lethal and you start finding Artificer- and Relic-tier Armoury Data, which unlocks the top weapon tiers for every class at once. A second class then skips its slow early grind: you still level its class XP by playing it, but its best weapons are already available because the data was shared. The bottleneck is never Requisition; it is the class XP you have to re-earn.
And the XP gap by difficulty is not small. One Minimal clear pays 630 XP and 35 Requisition; one Lethal clear pays 2830 XP and 220 Requisition — roughly 4.5x the XP and 6x the Requisition for the same mission length. Two clean Substantial runs still beat a Ruthless wipe, but the ceiling is steep. The difficulty table has every tier.
After 25
Prestige is the long tail: four ranks, each resetting the class to level 1, unlocking one Prestige perk, and adding a permanent 10% XP bonus for that class — so a Prestige 4 class earns 40% more XP on every climb back to 25. The cost is real: each rank costs around 100 Requisition, the class perks you bought are wiped and re-bought each cycle, and the class is locked out of content that requires level 25 until you re-climb. Do not Prestige your only viable class. You are trading a working build for a levelling project, which is a bad trade if you still need a working build to farm with. The perk page covers what carries over and the weapon upgrades page covers the weapon side, which does not reset with the class.
