Space Marine 2 Weapon Upgrades and Prestige Explained
How Armoury Data, weapon mastery, Requisition and Prestige work in Space Marine 2, plus the order to spend each resource without wasting it.
Weapons: you unlock variants, not upgrades
A weapon has four tiers — Standard, Master-Crafted, Artificer, Relic. You do not upgrade a weapon in place; each tier opens new variants with their own stats and a shared perk tree. Use a variant in missions to fill its XP bar, which grants a Mastery Point to spend in that weapon type’s perk tree. Perks then apply to every variant of that type. To open the next tier you need the matching Armoury Data: green for Master-Crafted, purple for Artificer, gold for Relic. Green drops in Minimal and Average Operations (and from a class Trial the first time you clear all three objectives at A rank), purple in Substantial, gold in Ruthless and above. A hidden Servo Skull in a mission awards data to the whole squad if you finish, and Terminus kills can drop it too. Lower-tier data can be refined upward at the Battle Barge workshop, which is slower than farming the real difficulty. Requisition is the currency that actually buys a variant once its tier is unlocked. It comes from finishing missions.
The order that saves time
Pick one class and one weapon path, then stay on it until that loadout clears the next difficulty. Unlock the tier, buy the variant you want, master a few variants for perk points, and keep earning XP on the same weapon type. Spreading green data across six weapons leaves you with six half-built guns and no Relic.
Prestige: the class reset
Every class caps at level 25. In the Armouring Hall, the Skill Tree screen offers a reset: the class drops to level 1, and you gain one Prestige Perk. Repeat the climb and you can hold up to four Prestige Perks at once, and each rank adds 10% class XP (up to 40%), which makes later resets faster. Two catches. Your normal class perks are cleared on reset, so you buy them again while re-levelling. And the Prestige Perk you pick is locked until you reach Prestige 4, when you can pay Requisition to reselect. Players have reported the rank fee around 100 Requisition and the reselect around 750, but Saber never listed prices — check the number on screen. Prestige is PvE only and applies per class; it does nothing in Eternal War, which has no progression. The late-game Crucible mode, added in Patch 15, only admits level 25 classes, so do not reset your only strong class mid-grind. For where to spend the rewards, see Operations mode and which class to level first.
