ABI Beginner Tutorial: What It Unlocks and the Claim Most Players Miss
The tutorial hands over stash access, the mission board and your first map queue. What it does not cover, and the mail claim that leaves new players under-geared
Finishing the beginner tutorial is worth doing before your first real raid, and the return is not loot — it is access. Three systems come online: your stash, the mission board, and the first map queue. Until the tutorial completes, those stay shut, which is why skipping it leaves you on a bare menu wondering what to do.
The claim step that catches people
Some of the tutorial’s rewards do not land automatically. They sit in your in-game mail until you open it and claim them, and a player who finishes the tutorial and immediately queues without checking mail enters their first raid under-equipped for no reason.
Open the mail tab, then the event tab, immediately after the tutorial completes. Exactly what is inside changes between patches, so read the mail rather than trusting a video from an older season.
What the tutorial does not give you
Crafting. The workbench is a separate unlock that arrives through progression, not through the tutorial. If you are looking for it right after the tutorial ends, it is not missing — it has not opened yet. The workbench unlock guide covers the Trophy Room requirements.
Permanent gear. The starter kit exists to bridge your first few raids. Treat it as disposable and replace it with loot as you extract, because carrying starter gear into a high-tier raid is a donation.
If a step does not register
Occasionally a tutorial step fails to complete and a system stays locked afterwards. Restart the tutorial from the menu rather than assuming the game is broken, then recheck your stash — the missing access usually appears on the second pass.
What to do with the access you just got
The first queue should be the cheapest map available, and the goal of those early raids is learning extracts rather than filling a bag. Knowing two exit routes on a map is worth more than a good spawn, because the extractions guide explains why players with full bags die at the wrong exit.
Stack the mission board while you learn. Accept every Contact mission before you drop, since most of them complete passively during normal play — the missions guide lists which objectives ask for specific items so you do not sell a required item.
For the wider early-game path, the beginner guide covers the systems the tutorial opens and what order to use them in.
