ARC Raiders Healing: Health and Shield Charge Are Two Things
Healing restores health, rechargers restore shield charge, and neither is fast. How to split the two resources and when to stop healing and leave.
The two pools
Health is restored by bandages and med items. Shield charge is restored by rechargers. Because a shield reduces damage rather than adding a bar, being hit costs you both pools at once — so after a fight you are usually low on health and out of charge, and one item does not fix the other. This is why a kit that carries five bandages and no recharger feels fine for two fights and then collapses. The third fight starts with full health and no damage reduction, which is the same as starting it at half health.
Healing is a timer, and the timer is the cost
Healing takes time. On a thirty-minute raid, ten seconds behind cover is ten seconds not looting, and it is ten seconds in which someone who heard the fight is closing. Two habits follow. Heal to a threshold, not to full. Top off before crossing open ground or entering a building, and accept partial health when the alternative is standing still in a room with two exits you do not control. Heal where you will not be found. A doorway or a lit corridor is worse than almost anywhere else. If you are going to spend the timer, spend it somewhere with one approach.
What to carry
The early split that works: bandages for chip damage, one strong heal for the fight that went badly, and at least one recharger. If your kit is a free loadout you get a fixed basic set, which is a reason to treat free runs as practice rather than as a serious attempt at profit. Higher-tier healing is not just bigger numbers. The upgraded items shorten the wait, and a faster heal is worth more than a bigger one because the wait is what gets you killed. The workshop page covers which station produces them and why the medical lab earns its place after the gear bench.
When healing is the wrong answer
If you are down to your last heal and the bag is already worth more than the kit, leave. The arithmetic is straightforward: the value of the loot you are carrying against the probability that the next fight costs you the kit plus the loot. Healing prolongs a raid; it does not make a raid profitable. That is the same judgment the raid clock page formalises, and it is why the shield decision matters as much as the med count — damage reduction is healing you never had to spend.
