ARC Raiders Stealth: Avoiding Both Kinds of Enemy
Machines detect by sight and sound; players by both. How to move through a raid without being the first thing anyone finds.
Two detection systems
Machines detect through sensors, line of sight, and noise. Players detect through their ears and eyes. The overlap is noise and visibility, which is exactly where stealth is built. A route that avoids both is worth more than any weapon upgrade.
Breaking machine line of sight
Machines lose track when sight is broken for long enough. That means a corner, a wall, or a ridge is a reset button rather than just cover. The pattern is to move between cover, let the machine lose interest, and continue. Fighting every machine you see is a choice, and usually the wrong one.
Not being seen by players
Silhouette matters more than colour. Standing on a ridge line, in a doorway, or against a bright background makes you visible at ranges where you cannot be identified. Move through shadow, avoid skyline, and stop moving when something might be looking.
Noise discipline
Walking instead of sprinting, avoiding metal surfaces where possible, and not shooting at everything that moves. Sound travels and it carries direction. Suppressed weapons help but they do not solve the problem: a suppressed shot is still quieter than a conversation and louder than silence.
When stealth fails
Have an exit. Stealth is a method for arriving, not a guarantee. The moment you are detected, the priority becomes breaking contact rather than winning the fight. Smoke, cover, and distance are the tools, and they work better than another magazine.
The patience problem
Stealth is slower than aggression and most players abandon it after thirty seconds of nothing happening. The payoff is arriving at the objective with full health and full ammunition while everyone else has been fighting.
The objective is the loudest thing you will do
Completing an objective makes noise, takes time, and fixes you in place. That is the moment you are most exposed, and it is the moment to have planned for. Decide where you go the second the objective completes, because the answer to that question decides whether the noise matters.
