Change profile character in Battlefield 6: how-to
Swap your soldier's look or identity from the customization menu. These steps work on every platform.
You want a different face on the battlefield. Battlefield 6 keeps your soldier’s look in one menu, and changing it takes less than a minute.
Open the main menu and pick Customize or Soldier, depending on your screen. The exact label can shift with updates, so look for the helmet icon if the wording changed.
The steps
- From the home screen, go to Customize.
- Choose the character or slot you want to edit.
- Pick a body type, head, and outfit from the grid.
- Confirm with Save or Equip before backing out.
Your pick sticks across modes. You do not need to redo it for each match you join.
Why some items stay locked
One catch: some items are locked behind progression. If a skin is greyed out, you have not earned it yet. Our beginner’s guide shows how unlocks tie to play, and the skins guide lists where rare looks come from.
Cosmetics versus class kits
Battlefield 6 splits cosmetics from class kits. Your character skin is separate from the weapon you carry. Changing one never breaks the other.
Want a themed look? Some bundles pair a body with a matching tag and voice. Grab them together if you like the set, but mixing is fine.
When the change does not show
If the edit does not appear in-match, you likely backed out before the save confirmed. Return to the menu and equip again. The game saves on exit, not on preview.
Cross-progression
Cross-progression means your soldier follows your account, not the machine. Sign in with the same profile and the character appears on every device you own.
Tidy the menu
If the menu feels cluttered, check best settings for a cleaner UI layout. That alone can make finding the option faster.
When a skin will not equip
Rarely, an item shows equipped but never appears in-match. Clear the cosmetic cache from the settings menu, then re-equip it. If the problem persists, the item may come from a timed event you no longer own. Our skins guide notes which looks rotate out. This step fixes most ghost-equip bugs without a full reinstall.
