Battlefield 6 Weapon Assignments: Every Unlock Route

How Battlefield 6 weapon unlocks work: career rank weapons, assignments like DEADEYE, battle pass weapons, and catch-up challenges

Every weapon in Battlefield 6 has an unlock route, and knowing it before you grind saves hours. Some guns come from career rank, some from named assignments, some from the battle pass, and some from seasonal catch-up challenges. This page covers how the system pays out.

The unlock routes

Career rank: several weapons unlock simply by ranking up. The M39 EMR comes at Career Rank 4, the LMR27 at 16, and the SVK-8.6 at 33. These arrive naturally if you play regularly, so do not force them.

Assignments: named challenges unlock specific weapons. The SVDM is the standout example, coming from the DEADEYE 1 assignment. Assignment requirements are visible before you start, so read them and plan around them.

Battle pass: the VSSM sits on the Season 4 Battle Pass. If you own the pass, claim it from the track. If you do not, it returns in later rotation windows or through catch-up.

Catch-up challenges: seasonal challenges that unlock older weapons for players who missed them. The GRT-CPS arrived through the Season 2 catch-up challenge.

How to plan your unlocks

  1. Open the weapon you want and read its unlock route before grinding anything.
  2. If it is an assignment, check whether the tasks overlap with weapons you already use.
  3. If it is a career rank weapon, keep playing normally and it will arrive.
  4. If it is battle pass or catch-up, claim it during the active window.

Assignment tasks often stack with normal play. The DEADEYE assignment, for example, rewards the kind of shooting you already do, so read the list before you decide to farm something else. Catch-up windows are the only ones that truly expire, so check the seasonal menu weekly.

Weapon assignment mistakes and missed catch-ups

  • Grinding career rank for a weapon that is actually an assignment unlock.
  • Missing a catch-up window because you did not know the weapon was available.
  • Ignoring assignment requirements that stack with your normal play.

Assignments gate the same attachments as levelling, which the attachment unlocks page explains; the levelling guide covers the XP side that runs alongside them.
