Colosseum Warfare Map Guide: Fire and Safe Zones
Re-plan cover after every fire spread, keep a second position ready, and treat the arena floor as a moving threat.
Colosseum is an arena map where the environment is an active combatant. Fire spreads across parts of the arena during the match, burning through cover and forcing players out of positions that were safe minutes earlier. The safe space shrinks and shifts as the fire moves, so the map punishes static plans. Teams win by re-planning constantly and by never letting the fire choose their position for them.
How the fire changes the map
- Cover is temporary. A structure or barricade that blocks your angle now may be burning in two minutes. Any position you hold should have a replacement.
- Safe space moves. Areas that were deathtraps early in the match can become the only viable ground later, once the fire has passed and the fighting has moved.
- The floor kills. Standing in fire is fatal, and the fire’s spread can cut off routes you planned to use. Check what is burning before you rotate, not while you are running through it.
The two-position rule
Never hold a single position on Colosseum. For every position you take, name a second:
- Primary — the position that gives you the angle you want now.
- Secondary — the position you move to when the fire reaches the primary or when the objective pressure changes.
The squad should rotate positions together. A squad that splits across a spreading fire loses the players on the wrong side of it.
Re-planning triggers
Re-evaluate your position when any of these happen:
- Fire spreads into your line of sight or your cover.
- The objective moves or is captured.
- Your squad takes more than two deaths from the same angle.
- A route you rely on for rotation starts burning.
This is the same discipline the attack and defend guide applies to resets, adapted for a map that resets you whether you want it or not.
Fighting style on Colosseum
- Grenades over peeks. Burning cover changes angles constantly; a grenade into a position works even when your read of the geometry is stale.
- Stay mobile between holds. Move between cover pieces inside your zone so the fire cannot pin you to one spot.
- Watch the flanks the fire creates. Newly burned areas open new sightlines. The first player to use a fresh angle usually gets a free kill or two.
What to verify in-game
Exactly which structures burn and how the fire spreads can change between updates, so spend your first match on the map reading the fire rather than fighting through it — the safe zone pattern is the thing that kills squads that assume. What does not change is the method: keep two positions, re-plan on every trigger, and never let fire make your rotation decisions for you.
The mode overview covers objective structure, Aftershock is the other map where terrain changes mid-match, and the infantry classes page helps you pick roles that survive a shifting arena.
