The Finals Best Light Weapons: SMGs and Fast Shotguns
Light lives on speed. Learn which weapon types suit hit-and-run and how to flank with them
What Light is for
Light is the fastest class with the least health. You win by flanking, grabbing cash, and disengaging before the enemy reacts. Light weapons reward mobility over raw damage, so fast handling and quick swap matter more than the biggest number on the card.
SMGs vs shotguns
A high-rate SMG lets Light fight at close-mid range and reposition constantly; it rewards aim but punishes missing. A fast shotgun deletes enemies in one corner but forces you to commit every shot. Run an SMG if you strafe and peek, a shotgun if you ambush.
Hitting and leaving
The Light loop is grab, break line of sight, rotate, then re-enter from a new angle. Use the Grappling Hook or Evasive Dash to leave a fight you are losing and reappear on the enemy’s back. You have no health to trade, so the goal is to never be in a straight gunfight at all.
Common mistakes
Holding a lane throws away your speed and turns every fight into a health trade you lose. Taking mid-range duels against rifles is the same mistake with a longer walk back. And greeding for one more grab after you are already loaded gets you killed; grab and leave.
Picking your moment
Enter after the enemy commits to someone else. A Light that starts the fight has no escape route; a Light that arrives second picks the wounded target and leaves. Let the Heavy draw fire first, then take the back line.
Frequently asked questions
Should Light hold angles? No, Light dies when it tanks. Grab cash, break line of sight, and rotate to the enemy back.
SMG or shotgun for Light? SMG if you strafe and peek, shotgun if you ambush corners. Both reward mobility over raw damage.
How does Light win? By speed and repositioning. Trade position, not health, and never challenge a rifle at mid range.
