The Finals dual blades: how to use them

The Dual Blades reward aggressive close-range play in The Finals. Learn the spin deflect, spacing, and when to swap to a gun.

The classic mistake with Dual Blades is swinging at everything. You chase a medium build across an open floor, run out of stamina, and die to a gun that out-ranges you. The blades are fast, but they do not close distance for you.

Fix your approach first

Start by fixing your approach. Use cover and movement tech to shorten the gap before your first swing. The blades shine when you appear from an unexpected angle, not when you sprint in a straight line. Light builds suit them best because they own the air.

Stamina still matters, even with a fast weapon. Two full combos drain the bar quickly, and a stamina-less swing is a free hit for the other player. Reset out of contact when the bar runs low.

The spin is your defense

The spin is your defense. Activating the special makes the blades whirl and deflects incoming fire for a moment, which turns you into a hard target mid-push. Deflect at the right time and you can round a corner or hold a choke. Waste it early and you are exposed during the recovery.

Spacing beats speed. A heavy with a shotgun wins a stand-up trade, so force awkward angles instead. Jump in, land a swing or two, then leave before the aim settles. Treat each fight as a hit-and-run, not a duel to the death.

When to switch weapons

Know when to swap. If two players focus you, switch to your primary and reset. The blades punish isolated targets and distracted players, not coordinated teams. Reloading enemies are your best windows.

Pair them with gadgets that create openings. Smoke, gas, or a quick movement tool buys the gap you need. The light build guide covers the mobility side, and the melee guide compares every melee option. For advanced players, the movement tech guide shows how to chain pads with melee, and the light infiltrator guide covers the cloaking angle.
