GTA 6 has two editions, and the prices are fixed by Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement:

  • Standard Edition — $79.99
  • Ultimate Edition — $99.99

If you have seen “$69.99” anywhere, that figure is a pre-announcement rumor. The official price is $79.99 for the base game.

What the Standard Edition includes

The Standard Edition is the full base game plus, for digital pre-orders placed before November 20, 2026, a one-month GTA+ membership. The game itself is the complete single-player experience Rockstar has described — there is no content lock behind the edition tier at launch.

What the Ultimate Edition adds

The $20 step up to Ultimate buys in-game content that Rockstar names item by item. None of it is story content you need in order to finish the campaign:

  • Vehicles: the ‘95 Grotti Cheetah, the ‘67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with its garage, the Shitzu Squalo, plus Jason’s Dinka Enduro and Crest Kayak and the Ganado Retro Build mods for his pickup
  • Weapons: the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers and personalized variants of Jason’s Girardi ES9 and Lucia’s Klose K17 pistols
  • Exclusive shops that stay closed without the edition: Rideout Customs, One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor
  • Extra activities: the PTT Youngin$ Compound raid and the Classic Car Collection commissions
  • Cosmetics: Vice City styles and the Goodtime Gear capsule

Rockstar says these bonuses are threaded across Jason and Lucia’s story with items “uncovered behind each chapter,” so the contents arrive progressively rather than all at once on day one.

What is not exclusive to Ultimate

The Vintage Vice City Pack and the one month of GTA+ are pre-order perks that come with either edition, not Ultimate content. Rockstar’s wording covers pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026, so even a launch-day purchase of the Standard Edition qualifies. Our pre-order value page details that window, and Standard owners can buy the Upgrade separately at any time.

Is the upgrade worth it?

The honest split:

  • Buy Standard if you want the story and can live without five extra shops and two side activities. The campaign is identical, and you can add the Upgrade later for the same $20 difference.
  • Buy Ultimate if the mod shops, salon and tattoo parlour matter to how you play, or you want the extra vehicles and revolvers from the first chapter onward rather than unlocking them later.

Either way the pre-order perks are attached to the purchase window rather than the tier, so the decision here is about content you want early, not content that vanishes if you wait.

Before you decide

Pre-orders and the bonus window are covered in the pre-order guide, and the exact launch date is on the release date page. If you are still deciding between consoles rather than editions, the PS5 vs Xbox page covers the platform question.
