GTA 6 Collector's Edition: What $399.99 Actually Buys
There is no collector's edition of the game. The Vice City Collection is a $399.99 box of merchandise, sold without GTA 6 inside it.
Rockstar’s premium tier for this launch is not a game edition. It is a box of objects, sold separately from the game, and the confusion between the two is costing people $399.99 for something they did not intend to buy.
Two different products, one word
The Ultimate Edition at $99.99 is the top version of the game: the full campaign plus a named list of in-game items, compared in detail on the editions page. That is a game SKU and it unlocks on November 19.
The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a physical collector’s box. Pre-orders opened September 24, 2026, it sells for $399.99, and Rockstar’s own listing states that the game is not included. There is no version of GTA 6 that ships inside it.
What is in the box
Eleven collectibles, spread across the set: a Macca the Gator figure, a pair of Oakley Frogskins, a New Era snapback, a double-sided Leonida map poster, and the rest of the September 24 lineup. It is sold only through the Rockstar Store, in limited quantity, and the store still describes it as available while supplies last.
The framing is deliberate. These are branded objects in the same tradition as the merchandise line that launched on October 8 — heavyweight cotton tees with the VI or Rockstar logo, Goodtime State tees styled after what Jason and Lucia wear in the Ultimate Edition, palm-tree baseball caps on pre-order, a chrome keychain, a Vice City money clip, a refillable Zippo, canvas totes and two sticker sets.
Who this is actually for
If you want the objects — the figure, the sunglasses, the poster — $399.99 buys a display piece and there is no digital substitute for it. If you want the game’s content, the box gives you nothing you can play. Buying both, which is what a complete collector would do, lands at $479.98 before tax.
There is a resale angle people raise and it cuts both ways. A limited box from Rockstar tends to hold value because it is genuinely scarce; it also takes up shelf space and, unlike a game, cannot be re-downloaded if it is lost.
The digital equivalent
The Ultimate Edition adds the Vintage Vice City Pack, the ‘95 Grotti Cheetah, exclusive Morgan revolvers, outfits, tattoos and extra in-game bonuses. Note what is not Ultimate-exclusive: the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ come with any purchase before November 20, 2026, so a Standard buyer gets both. The pre-order value page covers that window.
The other thing in the shop
Sony and Rockstar also shipped two limited DualSense controllers — black and white, colour-shifting finish, moulded palm trees — at $84.99, launching the same day as the game. Pre-orders opened September 10 in the US. For a console launch with no disc in the box, a controller is the only piece of hardware worth adding; the PS5 Pro page covers the console question itself.
Deciding
Buy the box if you want the objects and can afford them without touching the game budget. Skip it if any part of you is buying it for in-game content, because there is none inside. The pre-order guide handles the actual game purchase across platforms.
