How slots and tiers work

Decoration slots are tiered by size. A Level 1 slot accepts only Level 1 decorations; a Level 2 slot accepts Level 1 and Level 2; and so on up the tier. In the current build slots run Level 1 through Level 3, with the largest slots appearing on high-tier and Artian gear. The core rule is simple: a bigger slot can always hold a smaller jewel, but never the reverse. That makes higher-tier slots more valuable, because they let you fit the rarer, higher-level jewels. The mistake most players make early is sinking a Level 1 jewel into a Level 3 slot. It works, but it wastes the slot’s potential. When you are short on high-tier jewels, fill your biggest slots with your highest-value decorations first and let the small slots take the cheap ones.

Where decorations come from

High Rank quests and Investigations drop Mystery Orbs rather than finished jewels. You take those orbs to the Melding Pot in Suja — which unlocks during the story around Chapter 3 — and trade them, together with unwanted materials, for Decorations. The Melding Pot is the reliable path: instead of hoping a specific jewel drops, you pick a category (attack, defense, affinity, and so on) and receive a random decoration from that group. Event Quests also hand out decorations, sometimes as guaranteed completion rewards rather than random drops.

Which skills to farm first

Prioritise the skills that multiply damage on every weapon:

  • Weakness Exploit (Tenderizer) — extra affinity on weak-point hits.
  • Critical Eye (Expert) — flat affinity, the cheapest way to close an affinity gap.
  • Critical Boost (Critical) — raises crit damage.
  • Attack Boost (Attack) — raw on top.
  • Focus (Charger) — for weapons that lean on charge attacks. For survival, Health Boost (Vitality) and Divine Blessing (Protection) remain the safe picks while you learn a monster. Exact jewel availability, drop rates, and slot tiers shift with Title Updates, so treat any specific number as a snapshot and confirm in-game. The armor skills and build basics guide covers how decorations combine with alpha and beta pieces, and the tempered investigations guide explains the loop that funds the orbs you will be melting.
