Phasmophobia Ghost Orbs: How to See Them on Camera
Ghost Orbs show only on a night-vision camera, and the Mimic fakes them as a fourth clue. Where orbs spawn and how to scan from the truck.
Ghost Orbs are the only evidence you cannot collect standing in the room. They appear as small bright specks drifting through the air, and you only see them through a video camera with night vision — either on the handheld screen or on the truck monitor.
What counts
One clear orb drifting across the favorite room on a camera feed confirms the evidence. Blinking specks near the camera lens are not orbs; orbs float across the room in a steady drift.
Which ghosts produce orbs
Twelve ghosts have Ghost Orbs: Banshee, Dayan, Hantu, Kormos, Mare, Obake, Onryo, Raiju, Revenant, Thaye, Yokai, and Yurei. The evidence cheat sheet has the full chart.
How to scan for them
- Place a video camera (or tripod) facing into the favorite room early, ideally before you know exactly where the ghost is — you can relocate it after the room is pinned.
- Turn the room lights off; orbs are easier to spot in darkness.
- Watch from the truck monitor so you do not burn sanity. A second camera angle helps when furniture blocks the view.
- Outdoor weather, rain, and some map lighting make orbs harder to see, so give a quiet indoor map a longer look before ruling them out.
The Mimic trap
The Mimic shows a fake Ghost Orb as a fourth piece of evidence, even on a zero-evidence run. That means orbs are never a clean yes/no on their own: if you see orbs plus Spirit Box, Ultraviolet and Freezing, the correct call is The Mimic, not “four pieces of evidence.” This is the single most common advanced mistake on the chart, and the Mimic, Obake and Deildegast comparison breaks it down.
Common mistakes
Trying to see orbs with the naked eye or a normal photo. Staring at the lens sparkle instead of the room. And treating orbs as confirmed before checking the three Mimic evidences. If you are short on time, orbs are the evidence most worth delegating to one player on the truck monitor — the identification order guide explains why.
