Space Marine 2 Co-op: Campaign and Operations
How co-op works in Space Marine 2: three-player squads, invite-only campaign, and the Operations PvE mode.
Space Marine 2 is built around three-player co-op, but the two co-op modes work differently. Knowing which is which saves you from inviting friends into the wrong session.
Campaign co-op
The Campaign is the main story mode where you play as Titus. It is mainly singleplayer, but up to two friends can drop in to help — you plus two, a squad of three. There is no matchmaking in the Campaign: if you want other people, you have to send direct invites. Your friends take the story roles of Chairon and Gadriel alongside you on the Battle Barge and during campaign missions.
The Campaign is split across three planets:
- Kadaku — Prologue, Skyfire, Severance
- Avarax — Machinus Divinitus, Servant of the Machine, Voidsong
- Demerium — Dawn’s Descent
Because there is no matchmaking, the Campaign is the mode for playing with people you already know. If a friend is on a different progress point, you play to the host’s mission.
Operations co-op
Operations is the dedicated co-op PvE mode (separate from the Campaign) and the endgame loop. It is also built for a three-player squad and runs the six-tier difficulty ladder covered on the Operations difficulty page. This is where you farm Requisition, Armoury Data, and Prestige, and where class synergy matters most.
Making the squad work
- Cover all three roles. A balanced trio beats three of the same class. The best class for beginners breaks down the picks.
- Talk. Co-op without callouts falls apart on Ruthless and above. The co-op comms guide covers the shorthand that keeps a squad alive.
- Share. Medicae Stims and armor repairs are squad resources on higher difficulties, not personal ones.
The operations list is the index of what you will be running, and the individual class guides (Assault, Bulwark, Vanguard, Sniper, Heavy, Tactical) explain how each one pulls weight in a co-op squad.
