STALKER 2 Weight Artifacts and Carry Capacity

Carry weight is the real currency in the Zone. Which artifacts raise it, why they beat every damage bonus, and how to farm a set without dying.

Why weight beats damage

Damage artifacts change how fast a mutant dies. Weight artifacts change what you can carry out of the field, how many trips you need, and how much you can bring back to sell. A player with extra capacity can carry the loot from an entire anomaly field in one trip. A player without it either leaves value behind or walks slowly enough that the return journey becomes the dangerous part. That is a compounding advantage, and it is why the weight cluster is the most-searched artifact question in the game.

How to find them

Weight artifacts spawn in anomaly fields like everything else, but the reliable route is farming a small number of known fields rather than wandering. Take a detector, walk the fields on your normal route, and check what comes out. Because fields respawn, the correct method is repetition: pick three fields near a base, clear them each session, and build a stockpile. Selling the duplicates funds everything else.

The radiation problem

Many weight artifacts carry radiation, and radiation is the drawback that ruins the trade. A weight bonus you cannot afford to keep equipped is not a weight bonus. Two solutions. Wear a suit with real radiation protection so the artifact’s cost is absorbed rather than paid in drugs. Or equip a radiation-clearing artifact alongside it, which costs a slot but turns two artifacts into one usable one. Check the suit’s protection value before you commit — the armor page covers which suits actually have the protection and how many artifact slots they offer. Slots are the limiting factor: a suit with five slots lets you stack weight and radiation together.

What to do with the extras

Sell duplicates, keep one of each type. Artifact value on the market is high enough that a good field run pays for ammunition and repairs for several hours — the money page covers who buys them. Do not hoard artifacts you cannot equip. They weigh something, they occupy inventory, and their only function is in a slot you do not have.

The practical set

For most of the game: one or two weight artifacts, one radiation-clearing artifact, and the rest by need. That config lets you loot freely, which is the thing that actually accelerates progression in the Zone. Everything else is a luxury that waits until you have slots to spare.
